Tom, I like your suggestion to darken the shadow. |

Tom, I like your version much more than mine. My clouds are distracting and I also prefer your tilt as, to me, it seems to have a three dimensional look. |

I like the photo and think it could work well in either color or mono. I started with original 1. I only work in Photoshop and first straighten the horizon. I then cropped but left as much of the river inlet in the bottom left as I felt this had a very interesting leading line. I then selected the sky and darkened it. Then the same with the ocean and river. And then the same with the rocks. Then I converted the photo to mono and used burn and dodge tools selectively throughout the photo. |

I like the mono version much better than the original. But, I thought a version that is more diagonal would add more interest. In my suggestion I had to add to the original canvas size but in so doing I created what looks like clouds or waves. Instead of eliminating them I left them in as I thought they added more interest. |

I have tried to photograph hibiscus flowers in the past without success. My photos were never sharp. I like your photo - well composed, nice lighting and sharp. Kudos. |

I really like the mono version and have just one minor suggestion. The nose is dark and disappears into the background. I suggest a little brightening of that area. |
