Interesting gaze but I find the white area in the background distracting and felt there should be more detail in the wolf's fur. I took your original photo, selected the background and then blurred it. Then I converted the wolf to mono with much less contrast |

I like the mono version much better than the color photo. I thought this is a difficult subject to photograph since there is not much contrast. I felt the back wall did not add much to the photo so I cropped most of it out and darkened what was left. Then I increased the contrast and used the dodge and burn tools to add more contrast and highlights. |

I agree with Allen's comment. The background competes with the subject. A somewhat darker and blurred background would improve the photo a lot. |

Interesting photo but, as you said, it lacks contrast. I converted the photo with one of the NIK Silver Effect filters and was able to add some detail in the mountain shadows and a lot of contrast in the sky. |
