Stephen, I've also been several times. Each time I find something new. It's a special place. I found the original colors in my photograph to be much too intense, so toning them down seemed logical. Please take a look at the revised image that I included in my reply to Suzanne to see what you think.

Suzanne, what a brilliant idea. I took your advice (and that of Richard) -- removing the shadows, darkening the background, and converting to B&W. What do you think?

Thank you, Richard. I definitely won't enter it into a competition. (Actually, I VERY RARELY enter competitions. Instead, I judge them. Smiles) |

Mark, it's a fascinating image. I especially like the motion blur of the water, well done!
After a bit of thought, I wondered if this might also be two images. Your thoughts?

Xiao, I love the intensity of the man's expression. And, shooting him sitting with such a wonderful background was perfect. I decided to try cropping your photograph into a square format and also playing with the lighting and saturation. Your thoughts?

Natalia, she is certainly a cute girl, and her expression is wonderful. I especially like her hand positions. The bokah is perfect, giving the dreamy effect that matches the girl's expression and pose. Beautifully done.
Like Richard, I played with your image a bit to see how it might look with different lighting. Your thoughts?

Suzanne, you definitely succeeded in capturing a colorful and fun image! Well done!
I played a bit with your photograph to see how it would look with a tighter cropping, a darker background, and a bit more texture on the feathers. Your thoughts?

Thank you, Richard. I like it better without the shadows. Good observation. I think the small white spots were actually tiny chips on the figures.

Sophia, it's a wonderful photograph and a perfect fit for the competition topic! (I'm confident you'll win an award!)
A couple of very minor things that you might want to consider. First, people in the US are more comfortable with motion moving from left to right (just as we read). So flipping the image could be beneficial. Second, the runway is a bit bright, slightly detracting from the inclined plane. And finally, you might want to subtly brighten the sky in front of the plane, adding further to the feeling of it inclining. Here's how it might look.

Mike, when I uploaded your October images, I inadvertently replaced your September image. I'm not sure if it was a software glitch or my error. (I strongly suspect I screwed up.) Today I noticed that Emil's comments and suggestions didn't match your image. With a bit of embarrassment, I fixed the error.
And, it's a wonderful photograph! Long exposure images are especially appealing. Naturally, I played with it a bit. Your thoughts?

Emil, like Mike and Mandy, I couldn't resist playing with your fascinating image. I decided to focus on three of the trees and play with the lighting. Your thoughts?

Mark, I joined the guys in playing with your image. Although I did a minor cropping, I also played with the lighting to subtly show the interior. Your thoughts? |

Mike, that's generous of you! I hadn't considered that photographers develop good observation capabilities, but I think you're right. Just looking at the images submitted to our Study Group confirms that.

Thank you, Emil. I didn't get a chance to chat with the person, unfortunately. So, we can make whatever assumptions we choose. lol |

Wendy, this is a fantastic action photograph. I love the expressions of the women and the implied motion. I have mixed feelings about Mike's cropping. The gaze of the woman on the right directs my attention to the other two women, who are the highlight of the image.
Very well done!
