Thank you, Sophia. As I mentioned to Natalia (comments on her wonderful image), "I've been using and teaching Photoshop for several decades. The real trick is to decide what you want an image to end up looking like. Getting there is just technique." I think the art of photography is encapsulated in recognizing potentially fantastic images and determining what editing is needed to reach the image you imagine. Photoshop is simply a tool. |

Good idea, Mark. I'll do that if I decide to print it.

Perfect timing! Nice job, Sophia. Your camera settings were excellent, giving good depth-of-field and exposure, and the composition and cropping are outstanding.
I played with the image to see how it might look with a slightly darkened sky and without the items in the bottom-left corner. Your thoughts?

Xiou, it's a fantastic capture! I love the dynamic feeling given by the bird's apparent motion, and its extended wings are beautiful! Your lens choice and camera settings couldn't be better! Nice work!
There are two tiny modifications you might consider. First is Mark's observation about the bright leaf. Second, the leaf touching the bird's head is a bit distracting. I tried showing how it would look if these two items were addressed.

Mark, I'm not sure what you are looking for but I did my best. How's this?

Mark, I envy your trip to the Outback. It's an area that's always fascinated me. Your image is outstanding! I love the composition and the Adamski Effect. It really works with this photograph. I had to ask Mr. Google about the approach for the Effect. The colors in your image are captivating. Very well done!
I wanted to see how it would look with a gradient to darken a bit of the sky. Your thoughts?

Sophia, you're too kind! Photoshop, along with the masking abilities of Camera Raw or LrC, really opens up lots of possibilities for processing. Plus, it helps that I enjoy doing it. :)

Natalia, this is a fantastic photograph. I love all the leading lines pointing to the red balloon. And, the viewer's eyes are further directed because of the balloon's brilliant color and the surrounding brightness of the sky. I can't think of any modifications that would enhance this wonderful image. Well done!

I hadn't noticed that Mike added a bit of brightness to portions of the sky until you mentioned it. Thank you, Mark. If I decide to print this one, I'll make a point of doing the brightening.

Thank you, Mike. I'm embarrassed to admit that I hadn't noticed the uneven horizon. Thank you for pointing it out!
I don't typically shoot with an ultra-wide lens, but it seems to work well for this one, and the depth-of-field at f/20 certainly helps.

Thank you, Stephen. I wasn't "sharp" enough to plan the bright spot. However, now that you mentioned it, I'll claim it was part of my goal. lol |

Mike, the curves and lines are wonderful! I'm sorry about your camera, but the Pentax did a magnificent job. The light rays (shadows) on the left of your photograph don't bother me at all. However, I keep looking at the large bottom panel. It is angled differently from the three upper panels. I wanted to see what it might look like with that panel removed. While I was at it, I added a bit of brightness and contrast to the opening at the top of the image.
Your thoughts?

Chris, you have a very good eye! This is a captivating photograph. I love the symmetry, both in the building and the sky/grass. And, your handling of the grass is outstanding. It's a reflection of the top of the building. Well done.
I don't have any suggestions for enhancing this image!

Mark, the S curve of the street is fantastic. It draws the viewer into your photograph and back to the bright sun. Your work with masking really made a difference. Well done!
I took the liberty of playing with your image in Camera Raw to see if it could be processed to even further emphasize the curving street. I'm not sure it's an improvement. Your thoughts?

Emil, when I first opened your image, its size made the man below my screen. Since I respect your photography, I wondered what was going on... it didn't look like one of your images. Then, accidentally, I scrolled down and WOW! I love it. The clouds are fantastic, and the fact that you managed to have the bright portion of the cloud behind the man is outstanding!
I considered the benefit of cropping a bit off the top, but quickly decided that I like it as it is. Nicely done!

Mandy, this is wonderful! The gymnast's body and arm positions are perfect, and your thought to eliminate all of the background was outstanding. I can't think of anything that would improve your composition. Well done!
I played just a bit in Camera Raw to see if reducing the highlights on the gymnast might give her more definition and structure. The changes were minimal! Your thoughts?
