Mark, I like Sophia's suggestions and David's modifications. I decided to go even more extreme with the lighting to make the "valley" a bit darker and to bring stronger light to the bright areas. Your thoughts?

Fascinating. I would call her "sultry". Regardless, it's a wonderful photograph and an amazing model! Although I like your tight crop, I wanted to see what your image looked like with more of her included. (I wanted to include her hair.) Your thoughts?

Richard's crop works well!
When I first saw your image, I thought you had "over-processed" the man's eyes to exaggerate the colors. After seeing the original, I realized that the colors were real and that you had done an excellent job capturing them. Well done!

David, from the earlier comments, it appears that the color version has more buy-in. Nonetheless, I think the B&W version is appealing. My only problem with it is that nothing is drawing my attention to the ball. With that in mind...
Your thoughts?

Keisha, I can't look at this image without smiling. The dancers' expressions make it a study in emotions and personality. I love it!
I thought Richard's comment about blurring the BG was a good idea. With that in mind, I played a bit in PS. While I was at it, I did a slightly tighter crop. Your thoughts?

Tom, I didn't know you also enjoy the beauty and quietness of Ocracoke. It's a magical location.
Thank you for your input! As I read through the comments on this image, I was impressed with the diversity of opinions. Several people seem to prefer the original photograph, but others, like you, like the modifications. |

Richard, thank you. I see the appeal of the original and may try editing again with fewer modifications.

Xiao, welcome to Group 5! I hope you'll find it as enjoyable, rewarding, and educational as I have.
Your image is both lovely and very well done! Small, active birds are a real challenge to photograph. The bird's sharpness and your image's composition are superb. Nicely done!
There's one modification you might consider. The branch at the bottom of the image has a repeating pattern that might draw the viewer's attention away from the bird. You could consider removing it. Here's an example of how it would look.

Bob, this may be a twenty year old photograph, but it still works! I love the vibrant colors of the Water Hyacinth, and the blurred background makes it stand out. Well done!
My only suggestion is a nit: I suggest slightly desaturating and darkening the background so that it the same color as the hyacinth. |

Chris, you've created a fascinating image. After reading Emil's and Mike's comments, I decided to play with it a bit. Most of my modifications were made in Camera Raw. I attempted to bring some drama into the photograph. Your thoughts?

Adrian, to be honest, I had a difficult time with this image. I like the concept, but the high contrast and complexity bothered me. So, after giving it some thought, I played with it in Camera Raw and Photoshop to come up with this version. Your thoughts? |

Mandy,
Since I've come "late to the party," there's nothing more that I can say... except that it's an extraordinary image.
Well done!

So many wonderful suggestions for your image! Emil, I like Mike's lighting. It looks very natural. I also like the idea of somewhat darkening the background, although I wouldn't eliminate it since it provides needed context.
It's a beautiful capture!
