I could easily see this photograph being used for advertising by a restaurant or upscale grocery store. The colors are spectacular, but it's the variety of fruits and their placement on the tray that I find especially appealing. Well done!

Wow! What an amazing photograph AND trip to South Africa. I'm envious!
Sophia, your composite is wonderful. The highlights are your brilliant capture of the night sky and flawless processing. However, I think David's suggestions are well worth trying. You have done a marvelous job with this image. I wish I could suggest improvements for you to pursue, but I can't. Wonderful!

The images are as wonderful as the eclipse! They're beautifully done. I love that I can see sunspots. Your 1200mm focal length really worked out well. In my area of Maryland, the day was cloudy so all I saw was a SLIGHT darkening of the sky. But, wait until 2045 when the total eclipse comes to the DC area. I'll be 100 years old, but I'm looking forward to it. (Smiles)

Wow! Such a gorgeous photograph. And every rendition in the comments is wonderful. With that in mind (and the fact that you wanted a minimalist image), I came up with this version.

I love portraits of interesting people, and David, you definitely captured one! Her face is so full of life... wonderful! Monochrome can often bring out the character in portraits, which yours does. Well done.
I played with it a bit to see if I could reduce the artifacts and modify the lighting. All was done in Camera Raw. Your thoughts?

Thank you, Jim. I considered lightening the cabin but decided that it might pull the viewer's attention away from the sailboat.

Sophia, the vacation spot and the apartment were both wonderful. My wife and I were in the same location last year and, with luck, will return soon. It's not only a fantastic location for photography, but it's relaxing and filled with fascinating people and outstanding restaurants.

Thank you, Mark. I agree about the red sails and must make a confession. The sails WERE definitely red. However, they were also heavy fabric, and there was no light shining through. So, I added a bit of red in Camera Raw. I didn't add more than you see here since that might have seemed unnatural. Therefore, in honesty, there wasn't any translucency (though I wish there had been!).

Thank you, Emil. I was amazed (and pleased) to see the line of "ducks in a row". I certainly agree that rain is the photographer's friend, especially when the photographer can stay dry.

Mandy, the feeling that this image conveys is wonderful. I find myself looking at the old man's face and wondering what he's thinking. Really well done... especially under such challenging conditions!
Naturally, I wanted to play a bit with your photograph. I started with the color original and then converted it to B&W in Camera Raw. At that point, I made a number of lighting modifications.

Israel, it must have been an incredibly moving ceremony. I envy your opportunity to see such amazing events. Your photograph captured the feelings very well! Nicely done!
After reading Emil's excellent comments, I wanted to play with your image in much the same way that he did. The only significant additional modification (other than modifying the lighting on the men), was to remove the people on the left.

Emil, you're a magician! Every photograph of the Palouse (until now), showed only the beautiful rolling hills and crops. You have somehow included the windmills and made a fantastic image. Of course, I had to play with it a bit in Camera Raw and PS. I slightly modified the lighting and contrast, cropped a bit of the dark sky, and removed two of the "five-bladed" windmill (which I know is actually two windmills... smiles).

Chris, it's a wonderful image! I love long, narrow passageways. They have such a great feeling of mystery.
I took your image into Photoshop and Camera Raw to see how it might look with different lighting and a slightly different crop. The goal was to somehow pull the viewer into the scene, along the stone path.

Adrian, this image fascinates me. As Emil pointed out, the composition is outstanding, though I think cropping some at the bottom would be interesting. I also agree with him that the hand pulls my eye out of the frame. After thinking about it, I decided that the point of focus that works best for me is the heel of the foot that's about to touch the water. With that in mind, I took your image into PS and ACR to play a bit. One of the things that I did to bring focus to the leading leg, and hence the foot, was to bring a tiny bit of detail into the jeans. I'm not sure I like how it now looks, however, here's what I came up with.
