5 Apr 24 Comment Jim, I've tried astrophotography enough times to convince myself that I'm not good at it! It's amazingly difficult (for me) and seems to require equipment that I don't have. Nonetheless, I played with your image a bit in Camera Raw. Below is what I came up with. I don't really think it's an improvement on your image... and I didn't "pick up" any additional stars. (But it was fun playing.)

5 Apr 24 Comment Such a charming little girl. She has a delightful smile. Her position is great, especially the slight forward lean. Nicely captured.

I played with your image a bit in Camera Raw to see if I could increase the separation of the dancer from the background. At the same time, I made a few lighting changes, especially on the floor and background.

Your thoughts?

5 Apr 24 Comment Sophia, I join the others in admiring your photograph... it's wonderful!! Since you feel it's a bit flat, I played with it in Camera Raw to see what adjustments I could make.

Your thoughts?

5 Apr 24 Comment There are so many wonderful possibilities for this image. I love what you did, especially with Jim's and Richard's suggestions. It's such an intriguing photograph that I couldn't resist playing with it. What do you think of a tighter crop?

62 Apr 24 Comment Israel, I love the sense of motion and excitement in this image. Adrian's observation about the boat's wake being the "star" of the image is absolutely right (in my opinion). After thinking about it for a while, I thought it might be interesting with a different cropping. With that in mind, I played with it a bit.

Your thoughts?

62 Apr 24 Reply Wonderful suggestions, Israel. Although I had minimized the stripe at the left, I really like your version of the image with the stripe completely eliminated. I don't often use frames for my photographs, but yours works well for this one.

Great thoughts. Thank you!

62 Apr 24 Reply Thank you, Mandy. Usually, my goal in informal portraits is to capture and emphasize emotion. I am glad this one succeeded!

62 Apr 24 Comment Mark, I like your idea of capturing the "knight's view." You did it very well, and I think monochrome is perfect since it "sets the tone."

Your image, especially with Adrian's cropping, really works for me. I find that the lighting in your version helps emphasize the view through the window. Well done!

62 Apr 24 Reply Thank you, Adrian. I agree that it should have a bit more room in front of the face. It seems more "comfortable" that way. An alternative might be to add a frame like the one that Israel proposed. That seems to somehow make it feel like there's more room in front of the man. Also, completely removing the vertical strip seems to help.

Although the significantly tighter crop is very powerful, it feels a bit too close to me.

I really appreciate your suggestions!

62 Apr 24 Comment Mandy, I keep coming back to look at your photograph. It's amazing... there's so much in it. Since the openings in the rock seem to be dwellings of some type, I was especially intrigued and went to Wikipedia to learn more. The whole thing is fascinating.

One thing I noticed immediately was the "face" in the castle. I don't know if it was originally created to be a replica of someone's head, but every time I see your image, it stands out to me. (I circled it below.) Quite intriguing!

A well-done image and one that holds marvelous wonders.

62 Apr 24 Comment Emil, you have mastered this technique! I love the fact that you left some detail in the dark areas. Nice. The light behind the tree is perfect; however, you might want to try a slightly more gradual gradient so that the falloff is more subtle.

Do you make any adjustments to keep the tree and its branches in silhouette? Whatever you do really works beautifully.

The tonal quality of the image is wonderful.

62 Apr 24 Comment Adrian, I'm amazed at the apparent quality of this image. It's a beautiful photograph and cropped perfectly. Your handling of the lighting, especially the sky and distant mountains is outstanding.

I will definitely have to look up the specs of your Hasselblad and back.

Well done!
