Yes, I used some clarity but also played with masking a good bit to reduce the light reflecting off some of the rock and to slightly drop the saturation.

Richard, I am at a loss of what to add that hasn't already been said. It's a wonderful image, and your post-processing is fantastic. |

Truly wonderful, Mark! I love the feeling of looking toward the mouth of the cave. I wouldn't have noticed that it was a long exposure until I read your description and then looked again at the photograph. Beautiful.
After reading Jim's comments and your reply, I tried to incorporate them using ACR. Your thoughts?

Making it semi-unanimous, I also like Original #2 best. However, I understand the desire to highlight the gears and the watch itself instead of the chain. To see if this would work, I played with Original #2 in ACR. Below is what I came up with. The changes are subtle.
Jim, this isn't to take away from the image you submitted. It's a wonderful photograph of the intricacies of the gears!

David, I love portraits, and yours this month is truly special. The cropping, the composition, and the model's pose are perfect. Extremely well done!
Naturally, I wanted to play with your image in PS and ACR. I tried a few very subtle changes to the lighting and the lipstick. Your thoughts?

Sophia, this is a fantastic photograph. You really caught the lion in a perfect stance. I do like Jim's suggestion since it leaves a fair amount of room on the left of the image, but it removes some of the dead space. Well done!

I love the colors and the wonderful wave pattern that your waterdrop created. Beautiful! I played with your photograph in PS to see how it might look with the center highlighted a bit. Your thoughts?

Mark, thank you, and I agree. Pulling the best changes from everyone has really improved this photograph. I'm always amazed at the members of this group. They find excellent ways to improve images!

Excellent job on the woman fishing! She no longer looks like a cartoon character. In fact, the changes you've made make the image appear almost three-dimensional to me. Thank you.

Richard, like Mark, I think the changes you made to the water are great. Thank you! However, to me, the sky is a bit too dark and too saturated. I'll play with it a bit before printing. Thanks again.

Thank you, Bob. However, I have to "fess up" about my image appearing in the Showcase. I select the photographers to be included in the Showcase each month. And, with all the activities of the holidays, I completely forgot about it until the last minute. I managed to contact nine photographers and get their images. However, I needed ten. Hence my last-minute addition.
Nonetheless, I am glad you like it!!

Laughs... actually, LuAnn, several years ago I bought a stuffed cat that has a cutout so that it can be slipped over a camera lens, thus attracting the attention of young children. It sounded like a good idea at the time but I never remember to use it.

LuAnn, I hadn't noticed the blue sky, but I'm not surprised at it. My modifications consisted of only two things. First, I used the PS pinch filter to change the size of the flower. Then I used the PS colorize filter. If you've never played with colorize (one of the neural filters), give it a try. It's amazing.

Bob, if you think your memory is bad now, just wait until you get to be my age! Actually, I have an excellent memory... it's just incredibly SHORT! lol
There was no real reason for changing the size of the flower. I was simply playing around with the "pinch filter".

LOL... LuAnn knows a great image when she sees one, and yours clearly qualified.
I'm surprised that neither she nor you mentioned the fact that I made the flower smaller.
STAY WARM!

Bob, it's a wonderful image. However, LuAnn sees it as a challenge for us. I LOVE CHALLENGES. Here's my take.

Beautiful, Emil! I especially love how you've handled the sky. It adds a calm mood to your photograph. Also, the composition is outstanding. The trees on the left are an excellent balance to the tallest mountain.
A couple of nits to consider. It might be useful to open the darkest areas a bit and slightly reduce the contrast. But, regardless, it's a wonderful image!

I love the concept of "embracing the chop". lol
Bunny, I had no doubts that getting a long exposure would be out of the question. The good news is that your image, as it is, is wonderful!
I looked at Jeff Mauritzen's and Sue Forbes' sites. Amazing photographs. Thank you for the reference.

LuAnn, it intrigues me that you were invited to do zoo photography by a camera store. I can't help but wonder how that discussion transpired. Smiles...
I like how you've cropped the photograph and how you've brought out the texture of the ape's fir. Also, lightening the area around its eyes made an excellent difference. Well done.
A couple of things to consider. The bright area under the ape seems to draw my eyes away from its face. Also, you might consider eliminating the white tips of the plant leaves that are just above its head and shoulder.

Bunny, your amazing trip is already paying off! The iceberg is wonderful, and I love what you did with the sky... it's subtle but effective. Impressive work for an iPhone. I would really like to see this as a long exposure so that the water was smooth. I realize this wasn't possible, but it would be an even more amazing photograph.

Mark, you've clearly found "the picture within the picture". That's a skill that I wish I possessed. A friend whose photography I've always admired also has this ability.
(see http://www.davidfcookephotography.co.uk/blog/selected-images). The two men in your image make a wonderful composition, which works beautifully in B&W. Outstanding!
My only suggestions would be to remove the bright vertical line on the top left side and to slightly modify the lighting and texture so that the two men are even more prominent. I've attached an image with these small alterations.

Israel, you've done it again. Over the years, I've seen many photographs of mushrooms, and they have been lovely. However, they have generally been quite similar. But you've managed to create an image that is different while still being beautiful. The "on the ground" position of your camera was very creative, as was the fact that you didn't include the cap of the mushroom on the right. That was an excellent decision since it makes that larger mushroom seem gigantic. Excellent!
My only suggestion is that you slightly darken a few of the bright areas in the leaves... and perhaps a bit on the mushroom stems. I've attached a crude attempt at making the modifications.
