Bunny, about "letting me mess with his looks", please see my response to Emil. Smiles...
He is indeed a charming kid and a pleasure to have around (at least 99% of the time).

Thank you, LuAnn!
Being a teenager, my grandson insisted on wearing his hoody. That made the post-processing a bit trickier. And, to be honest, since it's not a photograph that I expect to display, I didn't want to spend too much time editing. |

Thank you, Emil. My grandson wanted to buy a video game (after all, he's 18 years old), so I agreed to buy it for him in exchange for two hours of "modeling". He was a good sport about the wig, makeup, and teeth. My wife told me that I probably shouldn't show him the image after my post-processing... but he loved it. lol |

Emil, I'm late coming to the "comment party" for your image. Sorry! As others have mentioned, flipping the photograph really made it feel more natural. I also like your use of the gradient filter to darken the left side of the image. It somehow seems more natural to move from dark to light as I look from left to right.
Like LuAnn, I attempted to eliminate the softness of the image. Also, like LuAnn, I failed. lol
The grittiness of your image doesn't normally appeal to me. However, it fits this subject. Well done!

I agree with you... this is discomforting for me too. I was surprised that my grandson thought it was great. lol |

It's a wonderful old building! Leah, your composition is well done and Emil's edits make it a sticking image. There's little that I can add. Beautiful!

Israel, Scotland is definitely on my shortlist of places to visit, and your image only strengthens my resolve. I don't think I would have seen the potential of this. The clouds and the bridge simply "fit" together. Beautifully done!
There were a few minor things about your spectacular image that I wanted to play with. First, the cloud on the upper left didn't feel like it belonged there. Instead, I wanted the sun to be just outside the photograph. Second, the long bridge seemed natural for a panoramic. And finally, I wanted to smooth out the water so that it appeared to be a long exposure. Your thoughts?

I'm glad you like my edits. Using Camera Raw's adjustment brush over the webs and adding clarity to them usually lets them stand out.
Take care.

Wonderful "seeing"! You're definitely right... the gate and chain make a fantastic B&W image. I like your choice for cropping. It makes the chain and lock the focus of the photograph while including enough of the gate to provide context and tell a story. Well done!
LuAnn, I wanted to see how your image would look with the cobwebs more visible and the chain not quite as bright. So, using the original I played with it in Lumenzia and Camera Raw. Your thoughts? |

Bob, this is mesmerizing. I keep coming back to look at it... again and again. I love the two eyes and the fact that one of them is winking. Also, the abstract nose and mouth are fascinating.
I couldn't resist playing with your image a bit in Photoshop. I added a bit more room on the bottom and did minor adjustments to the lighting. Your thoughts?

Bunny, I absolutely love this image and I'm blown away by your post-processing. Brilliantly done! Your choice of cropping and the frame that you used enhanced an already beautiful image. The lighting on the chair and floor is wonderful, and I really like the fact that you brought out some of the detail that's inside the open door.
My only suggestion for this photograph is that you print it and hang it prominently on a wall of your home.
Well done!
