Great, Richard. Glad you like my modifications. I didn't do a careful job of it, so I'm sure your result will be better. Please note, also, that I cloned out the two fuzzy irises on the bottom left since their lack of sharpness seems a bit distracting.

Mark, I agree with Richard. The colors are great. I also like the line made by the flow of water. It ties the image together. The wet rocks add a great deal to the interest of the image. Nicely done.
There's a lot going on in the photograph, so I'm not sure where to look. Is the straight stick crossing the stream the main focus?

Thank you, Mark. I always enjoy a "bit" of humor.
The fact that the word Israel begins to blur bothered me as well. I may decide to shoot the photograph again with a better depth of field.

Richard, I like this image a great deal. The colors are wonderful and the woman's poise makes an outstanding composition. I also like the fact that I can see her (one) eye through the rise in the hat. Beautifully done!
Since I enjoy playing with images that appeal to me, I tried a bit of manipulation in Photoshop. Your thoughts?

Barbara, a router bit is something that you use with a router (grins). I see what you mean about the white circles being distracting. I'll see about reducing or eliminating them. Thank you.... I really do appreciate your input!

I thought gatorbass were only found in the Everglades. lol
Nick, you did a beautiful job combining these two! How did you get such an excellent transition from the alligator's skin into the bass? And, having "them" jumping is great.
Impressive! |

Such a strong image! Your idea is excellent and your execution is flawless. I really like your choice of toning.
A couple of very minor suggestions.... I would like to see just a bit more of the arms. Also, there seems to be a white band around the darkest parts of the image, possibly a slight bit of over-sharpening.
Very well done! |

David, this is clearly the third ghost that Scrooge is facing in The Christmas Carol. (Grins)
I love how you dealt with the colors. Both the choice of colors, their application and the transition between them is masterful. Your cropping is perfect and the way you faded the strand of smoke at the top of the image is outstanding.
Beautifully done! |

Israel, I like this very much. The lighting is amazing. Getting the black background seems like it would be difficult. I usually achieve it by using flash with high speed sync, but it doesn't appear that you did it that way.
Gary's modification has wonderful tones and is very appealing. Your image, however, has a different quality. It emphasized the brightness of the light (sun?) and gives me a feeling of "just coming into the pleasure of the sun". To me, it suggests a story of the young woman's morning.
Nicely done.

Thank you, LuAnn. I always value your comments and suggestions. I will definitely play with the border to tone it down.
Thanks again!

Gary, you're doing well with the money you have! I love the ghost-like feeling of your image. It makes me think of the original ghost ship of 1872. (Okay, so I didn't actually know the date of the original ghost ship... but I DO know how to use Google... lol.)
I'm curious, which image did you submit? Is it the film photograph or the digital one? Or, is it a combination?
Your high-contrast image is wonderful and truly evokes feelings of mystery. I've returned to view it several times and wondered if other versions could also be appealing. Thus, after a bit of PS, Camera Raw and Nik filters, I came up with the following. Whatcha think?

Thank you, Gary. I agree that thought-provoking photographs can bring more to the table than art. They often tell a story.... sometimes a story that we'd rather not read.
I played with this image a good bit to achieve the lighting that I wanted. I'm glad you were able to quickly tie it all together. (Damn, you're good!)
You are right about the juxtaposition with LuAnn's image. It's once of those fascinating coincidences.

Thank you, Stephen. I agree that depicting the realities of life can highlight some of the issues that need to be dealt with. Last night my Silver Spring Camera Club had Earl Dotter as the speaker. Earl has had a 50 year career highlighting some of the plights of workers. His images of coal miners are extraordinary.
I appreciate you pointing out Gloria's image. She did a wonderful job with the same concepts.

Julie, we're glad you're back!
Gemma is lovely and your image does her justice. Like you, I played with the original image a bit and found many different ways to process the color photograph. Frankly, I didn't find anything that I prefer to what you did. Her pale face accentuates her eyes and the soft of her hair is a wonderful frame for her face.
You might try darkening her shoulder/arm slightly. Although I think it matches her face tone, it is quite bright.... equal to her face, which I find just a bit distracting.
Extremely well done!

Ahhh, the youth of today! LuAnn, your image tells a wonderful story. The intensity of the ladies as they are "communicating" is delightful. The woman on the left who's taking a selfie really makes the photograph come to life.
I like how you handled the tones and the cropping. The composition is well conceived with the person on the left balancing the three on the right.
There's little to suggest for your street photography. I think it might be a bit "cleaner" if you cloned out the dark-haired woman who's behind the lady on the left. But, in street photography this kind of thing is expected.
Well done!

Bob, I really like this photograph! It's a natural for monochrome! The sky replacement was a perfect "fix" to the plain blue... and you did an outstanding job with it. The end result is marvelous! Well done!
I love playing with images like yours. So, I took the liberty of copying it and using Photoshop, Camera Raw and Nik's Color Efex Pro 4. These let me remove the key-stoning and add a slight tone to fit the mood of "old times". I also did a bit with the light and sharpening in an attempt to have the horse and buggy stand out a bit more. Your thoughts?
