Phil, I enjoyed learning about green screen. Watching a video or two about it really gave me an appreciation for your image. It's wonderfully done and extremely creative. I found the lighting on the boy's face, weapon and blue smoke a perfect fit for the photograph.
To me, the boy's shirt is a bit too bright since it seems to pull my eyes from his face. However, that's a mere nit about a fantastic idea and image. Well done!

Rich, I really like the rays emanating from the sun. And, having the woman sitting and watching the sunset is a great idea. I suggest cropping the bottom a bit to eliminate the light area.... or simply color and darken it to match the wall that she's sitting on.
I like seeing the woman. Perhaps you might brighten her a bit and enhance to sunset's reflection on the water.

Once again I'm really impressed with your imagination and creativity. Like Barbara, I like the foreground pumpkins best. I'm wondering why the closest squares appear to be sloped.
Your creation beings lots of possibilities to mind. For example, you could make it appear like a "pumpkin chess game" and have a large pumpkin laying on its side.
Fascinating!

David, once again you've taken a good but ordinary photograph and turned it into something extraordinary. The textures in the image are very appealing to me. The layer of snow adds a soft grain that ties all of the image components together. Very nicely done! |

I agree with Barbara about the advantage of the tide being out as well as the use of monochrome for this image. I think the composition is wonderful with the water and distant land adding significantly to the rest of the image. And, your enhancements to the sky are very well done!
I personally found the "structure" a bit harsh and wanted to see how the image would look with a slightly softer feeling. I'm not sure how well I managed but I would certainly like your thoughts! |

Barbara, you've really created a beautiful image. I watched the video about creating reflections and decided that I'm not smart enough to do it. :) Nonetheless, as Richard noted, it really takes your photograph to the next level. I also like the sky that you added to the image as well as the frame which suits it nicely. Well done!
I notice a slight halo on the right side of the barn roof. Since it's relatively bright it pulls my eyes away from the beautiful scene that you've made.

Beautiful image, Larry. And, I absolutely agree with you that "the image is the important thing". To me, post-processing, the use of filters, etc. is all fine.... so long as the final result is appealing. You've clearly achieved this. Nicely done!

I really appreciate yours and LuAnn's observations on the HDRish nature of the face. It's sometimes hard to spot that kind of flaw myself... and, fortunately, it's an easy problem to fix.
Thank you both!

Like Gary, I really like this image. Also, like Gary I think the loss of the distant shadows across the walkway is unfortunate. With that in mind I played with your original photograph and came up with the following. It doesn't have the dramatic impact of yours but perhaps has some ideas that you can use.

Hattie, your image is outstanding! I love how the painted faces participate in the scene. I also thought that Gary's work improved the photograph. Cloning is a time-consuming task... at least for me it is.
Very well done... both Hattie and Gary!

I did a tiny bit of cropping on the top and then played with dehaze and clarity using the Camera Raw Adjustment Brush. (The same controls are available in the LR Develop Module.)

Gary, I really like the story that your image tells. It's clear that she is savoring the potential taste of each bakery item. Just looking at it makes my mouth water! I really like the fact that you made it a monochrome image. To me it is much more appealing than the color photograph. And the tonal range in the final image is wonderful.
I found the man and others in the background a bit distracting. So, I took a shot at removing them and also slightly modified the brightness in some of the areas. Your thoughts?

Paul, your addition of the sky and rider is outstanding. I especially like how you left a bit of light above the mountains. And, the rider and horses definitely add the needed scale to the photograph. I also think that your toning adds a feeling of the old west.
My only suggestion is a very minor one and that's to add a subtle bit of darkening to the bottom left corner since its brightness pulls my eyes away from the rider.
An excellent image! Very well done!

LuAnn, it's a fabulous image. I wish I had been there too! The composition is wonderful. And, I really like the area of the trees that are a bit brighter in the lower left. Truly a spectacular image!
As will any photograph that captures my imagination, I played with it a bit. What do you think?
