Excellent input! I'll let you know how it all turns out (and, hopefully, I won't have any burns from the sun... LOL).
Thank you! |

Phil,
Your image inspired me. My crystal ball arrived in the mail yesterday. :-)
Do you have any pointers that you'd be willing to share?
Thanks! |

David, please don't be concerned. I've been called much worse and, besides, I like Phil! |

Richard, I like what you did to the background. It really seems to make his face the focus of the image.
I find the increase in contrast a bit strong. It gives him an unreal feeling.
THANK YOU for your guidance/input! |

Thank you Nick. I removed the red spot, did a slight vignette and then, in your honor, added a frame. :-)
I think the changes made a positive difference. |

It's a striking photo and clearly demonstrates your skill in finding the picture within the picture. But, as important as the picture's content and composition is, I think your post processing is what makes the photo exceptional.
Your treatment of the BG and the FG is perfect. The three men stand out as the subject with just enough "environment" to give a bit of context, but without distracting from the main focus. This effect is enhanced by "fixing" the light on the men's faces. You've left enough contrast to show their expressions but made them bright enough to draw my attention.
At first glance I thought the shirts were a bit too bright. However, when I played with darkening them it just didn't work. Their brightness somehow helps give balance to the picture.
Very nicely done. |

What a wonderful picture. I like the fact that she apparently had cat whiskers prior to the skull.
I agree with Richard that Topaz ReMask might be a way to handle the wispy hair. But, even with that it would be a very time-consuming activity. |

Nick, you did a very good job constructing the composite and I think your aluminum frame "fits" it perfectly. However, I have to admit that I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the final image. The fact that the whale is on its back and the water is gushing out of its mouth just doesn't seem "right". Am I missing something? Is the image somehow related to the incident when Shamu killed the trainer? |

Phil,
This is VERY innovative. I like it a great deal. The fact that the entire tree is visible AND in focus in the crystal ball is wonderful. I also like the fact that the tree appears right-side-up in the ball. The image gives me the same feeling as some of the images of earth taken from space. Nice!

Richard,
I really like this. The perspective is wonderful and the colors allow the man's white attire to stand out as the picture focus point. Also, the yellow lights nicely balance the man's image. Well done!
Since the colors are so vivid I wanted to also see how it would look in B&W so I converted it with Nik's Silver Efex Pro 2, gave it a slight tint and then darkened the edges a bit. These changes seem to make it a completely different image. Interesting... |
