I really enjoy the mechanical connection details in this photograph from the mechanical arms down to the cotter pins and grease fittings. The details are pleasingly sharp. The tonal contrast is excellent between the bright steel arms and the nearly black wheels. The angled perspective allow the right side of the photograph to go soft, providing a sense of depth. Much more interesting than a straight on perspective. Very nice image.

I like the corner view of this elaborate ornate structure. A wide tonal range is well captured. The sharpness is maintained across the building and foreground. The blue in the sky became very dark in the conversion to monochrome and feels somber in contrast to the sunny details of the building. You could lighten the blues in the sky which would convert to a lighter gray, and make the sky less somber. |

I think this image is nicely framed and composed. The posts in a line are vertical to the end and the decreasing spacing between the closest three posts adds a sense of depth from left to right. The bowing of the cable net and the direction of the vegetation caught in the net indicate the prevailing direction of flow along the shore. The patch of sandy bottom visible near the closest post indicates shallow water. Taken all together these provide me with a firm grounding of the physical scene. What is the function of the cable net? |
