John, what do you mean by bold stroke? I think of a stroke as a border around the photograph.

John, this is Half Dome. It was photographed from Cook's Meadow, a short walk from the Ahwahnee Lodge. This was a light-hearted attempt on my part. There is no need to apologize that you didn't care for it. |

I'm glad you asked. The broken tree reminded me of the profile of a dinosaur. I meant it to be the main subject. Half-dome was intended to be the background/backdrop to the dinosaur. At least that was my intention when I made the photograph. |

You captured the lugubrious mood of the place well. I was surprised that 1/60th sec. captured so much movement in the man and dog. They must have been moving rapidly. The wind turbines don't add much in my opinion, but they do add to the theme that rain or shine the activities of life go on. Well done. |

The composition of the branches and Blue Heron chick is very delicate and pleasing, like a Japanese wood cut. The dark body of the bird contrasts strongly against the white background. I would consider adding more room on the bottom and left sides of the image. For sitting birds I use a single focus point and AI Focus mode to allow for sudden movements and back button focus. For flying birds I use multiple focus points and settings to tell the camera to track the subject and react slowly to sudden changes or distractions in front of the subject. |

This is a wonderfully captured city scape that includes elements that show the character of the village such as the churches, well kept houses, trees, and roof gardens. The houses and trees are sharp and have a natural tone. I would try using less contrast in the clouds. |

Very nice use of luminosity and contrast to keep my focus on the center of the image. Thank you for describing your processing techniques. I find them helpful.

This abstract has me thinking about this image was created. Could not fully reconcile the title with what I was seeing so I sat back and appreciated the abstract formation of lines. The variation in the size and luminosity of the structural members adds depth. |

The graphical rendition of the flowers is excellent. I like how the limited area of focus adds depth to the arrangement. There is clearly attention to detail including the outline of the white petals against the white background. Nicely done. |
