The assortment of rectangles outlined by beads of snow maintains my interest in this image. I think the stored heat in the blocks has something to do with the more rapid melting in those areas compared to the seams between them. In any case it was the first thing I noticed, even before the patterns of rectangles. Nicely seen and captured. |

The brick walkway and reflections really anchor the scene for me. The neat shops and various styles of architecture provide a cozy atmosphere. But the brick walkway is the main subject for me. |

Wow. What a moment. The surfer's body is nearly horizontal! It makes me wonder if he stayed on the wave or dropped off the board after this moment. I think the high-key treatment is appropriate for this image. |

The texture of the gator's skin is very nice. I can feel it. The dark tonal treatment along with the shiny sun reflections also adds to the impact for me. |

This is a very nice capture of the interaction between the chick and its parent. The focus on the chick, both in terms of the tonal contract between the house and the bird as well as the actual focus, is well done. The shadowed side of the chick could be dodged to bring out detail in the feathers. The wings of the parent bird in flight is nicely backlit. The motion blur adds movement. |
