Yes. The trip was very much about Shakleton's adventures. His death notice is listed in the church's directory. It was a remarkable feat that all of his crew survived the ordeal. Here is a quote by Sir Raymond Priestly, Antarctic Explorer and Geologist:
"For scientific discovery give me Scott;for speed and efficiency of travel give me Amundsen;but when disaster strikes and all hope is gone, get down on you knees and pray for Shackleton." |

Helen:
Thank you for your comments. Yes, the mushroom-looking objects are collapsing steel tanks. The cemetery is circled in the attached photograph. |

The focus and exposure are excellent. The bird contrasts very nicely against the bright slate tiles. I like that you included details in the environment around the bird. |

This image converted well to monochrome. The exposure is perfect and allows the textural detail on the surface of the lighthouse and keeper's house to be seen clearly. I like the framing of the original which shows the trees on either side of the lighthouse. It seems more stable that way to me. |

I think this is an excellent capture. The focus is crisp and the perspective adds depth to the photograph. I am fascinated by the reflections in the stones or tiles. It looks like they were just washed or a rain storm recently occurred. I wouldn't change anything. Well done.

The tonal contrast between the white seeds and the background is nicely captured. The way the seeds cling to the pod adds a nice visual tension to the image in my opinion. Nicely captured. |

This is a pleasant scene made more so by the placid water and clear reflection. I would consider lightening the land and roof of the gazebo to add more contrast with the backgrounds. |
