Nice detail front to back. With the wide EV range I would have tried bracketing exposures. |

I like the interesting mix of symmetrical and asymmetrical elements that you have captured. I would have liked to see the framing arch completed at the top.

Impressive structures. The scale created by the wide angle adds a sense of depth and dimensionality. Nicely done.

This is a special compositional moment. The spotlight effect of the sunlit pavement is key and the shadow at the bottom is necessary to define it. I like the suggested crop because is simplifies the sunlit area into a flashlight beam shape.

The cabin and the background hills make a different kind of contrast. Both are going back to nature in their own way. But nature is taking over the cabin much more quickly than the background hills. I agree with the previous comments regarding POV and increasing the tone of the right side of the cabin.

The building is very nicely contrasted and framed by the white leaves behind it. Your mention of the color channel swap method had me looking it up. It's interesting how the IR conversion is affected by the shadows. The background leaves and foreground leaves converted differently due to the degree of shade on the leaves. |

Thanks for all of your comments. For me this image was another chapter in my quest to learn about finding order in chaos. I thought that the crop might create a more orderly image, but apparently not. I converted the original uncropped color version to monochrome, which is attached here. My thought is that the foliage still seems impenetrable. My conclusion is that the color creates the separation the opens up the image to exploration. This may be one of those images that are not meant for monochrome. |
