Thank you Stuart for your comments. The two penguins are chinstrap penguins. I kept both penguins in the frame because it shows them making a living as a family in this difficult place. One penguin would give the impression of a single brave hold out which I was not trying to convey here. That being said, I have cropped this image several different ways in the past, including your suggestion. This time felt like portraying a family scene. |

The gathering of people confirm the draw of these rocks. The attraction is sufficient for people to risk walking of the wet, and possible slippery, rock approaching the promontory. I think that the exposure with the people in silhouette works well. |

Simple subject with a complex treatment of light, shadow, and forms. This image draws me in and takes time to analyze. I still haven't quite sorted it out, but I like it.

For me, the bridge is the star of the image, but the posts do add nice foreground interest. The debris, not so much, but their presence makes me aware of the power of moving water. |

The erosion channels are captivating. Especially the one on the left. I think the bright sky contrasts well with the dark rock along the top of the image. You could reduce both the brightness of the areas directly lit by the sun and darken the shadows falling on the middle and left channels. Nicely done. |

This is an excellent black and white treatment of the subject in my opinion. The scale of the Big Boy is impressive and the amount of steam is just right. Whether intentional or not, the smoke plume merges in an interesting and odd way with a streak of darkened sky between two clouds. This created a puzzle for me trying to figure out where the smoke ended an the darkened sky began. This merger of the smoke and sky creates the illusion of a rapid change in direction of the smoke plume. Or is it an illusion?

The right bank maneuver and the outstretched wings make this a memorable image. The focus and lighting on the bird is excellent in my opinion. The fish is hard to notice at first. I am not sure what could be done about that. |
