Thanks Stan for the suggestions. Luck of course figures into a lot of photography especially travel photography…my luck was being at the falls when the wind was blowing the water away from the camera…had the wind been blowing the other way I probably would have been soaked!😀 |

Hi Adi,
This I think is a wonderful `street' photo. The perspective is unique and effective and the diagonal position of the individuals create a dynamic tension in the image. One thing to consider is in some way de-emphasizng what appears to be a ball (?) in the lower left hand corner--I don't think it adds to the image.

Jay,
This I think is a good effort at showing the impact of contrast, light & shadow in a monochrome image. But you might consider whether the image would be stronger if you could `lift' the shadows from the customers a bit more...I think having more of the people to relate to would help the viewer.

Hi Mel,
This image , I think does a very good job of illustrating how fog can `lift' in different ways. The trees muted by fog make a good contrast to the more colorful tree branch going from left to right. Perhaps you might consider converting the leaves behind the tree on the left to monochrome...this might help focus the viewer's eye more on the contrast created by the fog. Norm |

Hi Stan,
This is a beautiful image. The color is great and the composition is on point. I admire you shooting handheld with the equivalent of a 600mm lens--wow! quite an accomplishment. I wonder however if you were able to do the same subject using a tripod whether the eye might be just a tad sharper. Norm |

Hi Harriet,
This I think is a nice effort at soft focus. Some suggestions:1. consider whether you want to emphasize the bokeh (?) in the glass window (the round reflections) or the vase & pussy willows themselves--I myself found the reflections a bit distracting:2.consider brightening the vase and the pussy willows and making them a bit more white-I think this will help the image `pop' more. 3. consider straightening the image...while this can be done in post processing since this is a still life it might be easier to do when taking the shot.

Hi John,
This I think is a wonderful image that takes us back to a bygone era. The wisps of steam ( I think taken at a slow shutter speed?) add interest to the image. The color is on point and the curve of the locomotive blends nicely with the arm and main component of the steam whistle. One thing to consider is darkening the background to the right to more of neutral grey so that it doesn't detract from the main part of the image. Norm |
