Thanks John. I appreciate your comments & agree with the observation about the wing tips…it's been a fun challenge to get the entire butterfly in sharp focus when shooting in the wild…perseverance is key <g>

Thanks everyone for the very kind comments.
The image was shot @ 240mm @ f5.6 @ Iso 800 & processed using Photoshop & Topaz for denoising . The Nikon Z 100-400 4.5/5.6 I find to be a very sharp lens. And I did position myself so that, as much as I could, I tried to shoot parallel to the butterfly.
Stan thanks for the information on the Monarchs-it looks like it will take a major effort to keep these beautiful creatures aloft. Reports in the north east are that my experience in not seeing many Monarchs is not unique.
Best wishes,

Hi Bernie,
The colors in this shot are outstanding. I usually find `true' red in a flower hard to reproduce in a photo. Capturing the rain drops adds to the texture of the image.
It might be interesting for you to try a similar shot using a tripod, if possible, allowing you to shoot with a higher f stop and lower iso to increase sharpness and you could decrease the shutter speed to whatever you'd like (assuming it's not windy <g!>.

Hi Jay,
Overall, I agree with Bernie's comments. My own preference would be to focus on the field as a foreground and use the bulb setting to capture multiple bursts of fireworks. Alternatively, if you do want people in the image it might be interesting to put a chair or two in the foreground and invite folks to have a seat. Might make for an interesting shot!
Congratulations on your award!

Hi Mel,
This is a beautiful image. The colors of the flowers and the girl's dress complement each other nicely. The composition is spot on-by not putting the subject dead center you increased the viewer's interest. Had you also considered shooting at a higher F-stop--say F8?...this might help further enhance the sharpness of the child's face...alternatively if the `dream like' look is what you were going for you did it well!

Hi Stan, What a terrific image! The composition is spot on and capturing the ship's wake and reflection is phenomenal. Getting this kind of image from one moving ship of another is quite an accomplishment!
Question: had you considered dialing down the red & blue a bit--it might further enhance the realism of the image<?>. Was this image made with the iPhone's HDR setting?...Perhaps that might explain the super `punchiness' of the colors.

Hi Harriet, The composition of this image is wonderful. The shadows on the wall and on the vase really work well together. You don't mention if you used a tripod (or support such as a table)...If you do have a support for the camera you can bring the ISO way down, the shutter speed way down and help contribute to making the image sharper after the crop.If you plan to crop its usually a good idea to get the most resolution you can from an image & a lower iso will help. This would enhance the sharpness of the flowers.

Hi John,
A really lovely daytime image of the wheel. The sky color is good and the red and orange carriages of the ride complement each other as well as the sky in color. The triangle formed by the supports to the ride add visual interest. It's great that you were able to avoid hotspots in the metal. Well done!
