Bernie, the sensor was modified so that I could use any kind of IR filter on the lens including a visible band pass filter which has the effect of making the camera a daylight' or regular camera again |

Thanks for all the kind and very helpful comments. I'll try to respond to the comments/suggestions below in the order they were given.
Harriet: To me at least the trees make the image pop. I was drawn to the scene because normally one wouldn't often expect to see full leaved trees in such a desolate area
Bernie: IR 590 refers to the wavelength of the light on the iR spectrum - I use an IR converted full spectrum Z6 with the filter. If you process in photoshop you can get bold yellows & blues but you can also convert the image to b&w in photoshop and get stunning whites. Skies tend to show best in IR with lotsa clouds--given the focal length of my lens I got the sky I could.
Stan: yes I agree the top is a bit tight...but short of tumbling down the incline I shot from I couldn't really get a better vantage point...& although I love photography taking that kind of fall wasn't for me <g>
Jay: The rocks weren't really black in actuality so I didn't feel the need to go further on that |

Hi Bernie,
The color in the sky its beautiful and I think the flag adds interest to the image <even better if there had been some wind and the flag was unfurled--but nothing to be done about that>.Since you were shooting wide angle one thought might be to place the camera as close to the ground (or on the ground if possible) and capture more of the foreground--I think the trees that are cut off could add further interest to the image by further emphasizing the beauty of the sky.

Hi Jay, A beautiful landscape image! You captured the light just at the right time. Well Done!`Just a couple of thoughts: how would the image look if you cropped up to eliminate the lighter colored rocks in the foreground?--these seem to be competing for attention with the sun drenched mountains; and depending on how long a lens you had it would have been interesting to see another shot with the rainbow further emphasized.

Hi Carol, This image has very good color and background tones. I tried to expand the image but couldn't, so I can't really can't comment on the detail. From what I can see one suggestion...you may want to focus in on your grand daughter's face since she is the key part of the image.

Hi Harriet,
This is a terrific portrait of Elaine! The eye is sharp and the feathers show great texture. Two minor suggestions: 1. you might want to consider having her beak further away from the edge of the frame--there is a lot of negative space on the right; 2. darkening the shiny spot near the base of the neck would help further draw the viewer's attention to Elaine's face.

Hi John, Lovely color on the head of the flower & great detail on the `bulb' beneath it. I also like the shallow depth of field blurring out the background. One suggestion, you might want to consider cropping at the stem so as to eliminate the leaves coming off the stem - thus emphasizing the main subject.
