Thanks Stan...I appreciate your comments and those of the other PSA members very much...It is indeed a beautiful area. We were fortunate to be there on a lovely day in late May a bit early in the day. Later on that day the Cinque Terra was very busy with tourists.

Hi Barbara, I like the concept behind the image-flower images are always nice!...just a few thoughts on possible different ways of accomplishing the goal of a beautiful flower photo
1. reduce the number of flowers to achieve a singular plane of focus--unless you focus stack with a bunch of flowers this diverse in how they stand relative to the plane of focus then getting a super sharp image may be tough
2. how does light painting enhance this image?... versus using a single continuous light or flash or window light to provide more even lighting?. I understand wanting a black background but that can also be accomplished using photoshop...light painting can be fun but sometimes it can be frustratingly hit or miss and better for a subject that has an easier field of focus.

Hi Jay, Great color for the time of day the image was captured...I think either cropping out or using the clone or patch tool to get rid of the branch to the left would strengthen the image..as would getting rid of the 2 branches to the left...Just out of curiosity, which barrier island was it? I've been to Bull Island,SC and this scene looks familiar. In any event great shot-love the positioning of the sun!

Hi Carol, Welcome to the group. I like the play of light & shadow and the vibrancy of the colors. One suggestion, you may want to consider cropping down from the top a bit since the main subject seems to be branch in the center.

Hi Stan, This I think is a beautifully lit and composed image. My eye goes from the lower left up to the light house & down again. I also like how the sky color is a bit muted so as to emphasize and not detract from the main subject. It's a real winner in my book!

Hi Harriet, I always enjoy seeing images from your `animal kingdom' . I agree that this is a very good environmental portrait. A few suggestions; perhaps increasing the shutter speed a bit...I could be wrong but I detect a bit of blur in the image...it could be camera or subject movement or the wind. Also you may want to use PS to open up the shadows of the darker animal--helping to open the face more.
