Thanks for your ideas. Most of my photography is not done at night and I use the histogram to guide my exposure. If I were to photograph regularly at night your practice sounds good. |

Isaac, what a "human-like" expression. The bird adds a wonderful story and great perspective. I'm impressed how well you were able to keep everything in focus! Great job and great story. |

Adrian, I tip my hat to you for your willingness to venture into underwater photography! While it adds some complications, I have been using a digital strobe with my current Canon G series camera. It requires a housing but offers me more options.
In shallower water one tends to have more cloudiness to deal with. In the deeper water where I dive, there is less cloudiness...but you have to want to be a scubadiver to do this.
Beautiful and colorful image. Congratulations. |

Leah, I enjoy the view looking through the door opening. It helps to place it into the scene. The tones of grey enhance the scene. Nice image. |

Barbara, I'm not an experience "birder" so I especially appreciate seeing the underside of this bluebird. It's a lovely shot. |

As stunning as the insect is, I also appreciate the qualities of the background. The soft swirls are beautiful. |

Bruce I am enjoying the soft brown colors. So often we have portraits where we try to make the subject stand out from its background with contrasting colors. Your choice here is very effective. Great work! |

No light painting but I used luminosity masks to select the dark areas and then used a layer mask to limit the changess to the foreground.
We were very lucky to have a very dark night and the North Rim is darker than the South Rim. |
