So, you have Eastern Roots! I was born in Buffalo and lived in California for a number of years before moving to Southern Illinois and then back to Buffalo! In the midst of that time I spent a year in Finland which is a beautiful part of the world. I've been able to share my underwater images because I have an excellent scanner and can start with 35mm slides which is how many of them were captured. |

Bruce, I had a friend who dropped out of the scuba diving training when she discovered that she couldn't clear her ears. It's a pretty common problem. I have been lucky not to develop that problem in my 40 years of diving! |

I have found that it is often necessary to correct the white balance in post processing. I'm glad to hear you are using your camera while snorkeling. It's amazing how snorkeling allows photography. |

Adrian, beautifully developed. The crop brings power to this image. It would be fun to create speech which might have gone on between the zebra. I ove action! It is easy to see why it won! |

Leah, a very nice presentation of "age". Is there a story of the area where this image was taken? It begs a story. The birds flying around helps to establish life in the midst of death. |

Barbara, I am impressed that this image doesn't have any distraction from the high ISO setting at which it was captured. The similar texture throughout the bird makes it a bit difficult to separate the bird's neck and head from his body feathers. I would have liked to have had the legs included but I understand why it wasn't possible in this capture. Very nice presentation. |

Maria, you've done such a great job of capturing the details in the birds. It helps that you had a lot of distance between the subject and the background. The composition is strengthened by the fact that one bird has its wings spread while the other doesn't. It is fun to see different birds. |

Bruce, what an amazing face! I appreciate the balance you've maintained between the face and the rest of the bird. The detail you've captured, speaks of the power of control that this animal has over its flight. Beautiful capture. |

How wonderful! I don't think I have ever seen a mongoose in the wild. I visited Tanzania in 2008 but don't remember seeing a mongoose. Once again I appreciate the color tones which fit the capture so well. The one fellow who is standing up is a powerful part of the composition. |

Adrian,I love the color in this image. It feels true to the sandy environment. The crop is perfect. It allows a story that would have been lost in the original capture. Great Image. |

Isaac, thanks for your comments. I had my first experience with SCUBA and underwater photography as a celebration of turning 50. When the Pandemic temporarily stopped travel, I had put in 36 years of enjoyment underwater. |
