Isaac, I am enjoying noticing the differences between the adult's and young bird's feathers. I agree that the fact that their combined focus is to the right really brings unity and strength to this lovely image. |

Adrian, I agree with the exposure adjustments to bring down the brightest parts of the waterfall. I really like your original 2 because of the great depth of field. I am often more impressed by the 3-d feeling in a waterfall image. You are lucky to get to do such wonderful photographic travel. My best waterfall trip was to Iguazu Falls in Argentina. Image is attached. |

Marie, I, too, appreciate the crop you chose. I decided to have a bit of fun and I downloaded your finished jpeg and tried a few techniques. 1. adding a stroke. When an image is going to be viewed on a screen, I like to add a subtle stroke to provide a finished edge, particularly when there is a dark edge to the image. 2. I selected the bird and applied some haze reduction. 3. One of my favorite ways to make a background recede is to select it and apply a hue and saturation layer, bringing the lightness slider slightly to the left. 4. Finally when I selected the bird, I added a bit of contrast just to the bird. Here is the result of having some fun with your beautiful bird. |

Barbara, it is nice to see a closeup of these little creatures! In capturing such an image, try using your histogram to avoid over exposing the brights. I find that this helps me to capture a better starting point for development. ...A lovely image. |

Maria, what an amazing capture! I think the background of a crashing wave adds to the impact. |

Good suggestion. I used a luminosity selection to isolate the "Lightlights2" pixels. (Tony Kuyper action) I then applied an increase in contrast. I like the result. Here it is. |

After seeing this image posted, I decided to apply some haze removal and I lowered the brightness of the brightest pixels with the help of a luminosity selection. |
