When you return, let me know what your guide said and whether you saw an olingo.

I didn't intend to suggest that the bear wasn't sharply focused. It is well focused. It is the natural texture of the bear's fur which gives the effect and makes it stand out against the bushes. |

Adrian, I agree with all of the other comments on the beauty and peacefulness of this scene. It is lovely! As I gazed at it, I was reminded of a favorite technique I use when faced with the billowy clouds like in this scene...Cloud Sculpting. I took the image into Nik Software's Viveza2 and used a control point over the clouds. By adding "structure" I was able to bring out an added dimension to the clouds. I then copied the control point so I could duplicate the effect on the other side of the sky. I left everything else as you developed the image. |

It is fun to discover that there are creatures out there that I have never seen or had the chance to capture!
Charming image.

Welcome to the group,Laura. I learn a lot from the group members who capture birds I rarely aim for birds but learn a lot from others who do. As for gaining space around your subject, if you can sample the current background color, you might select your subject; duplicate the selected layer and then fill the original background with the sampled background color. You can now expand the canvas size which will give you more background to work with.
I look forward to seeing more of your images.

It is an amazing image. How did you manage to get such an out of focus background with F10, or was it accomplished in post processing.

Isaac, this is a very interesting image. What makes the bear stand out seems to be the fact that he is softer than his surroundings. I never thought of that approach but it is quite effective! |
