I lived in Malaysia about 40 years ago, and we went to Bangkok several times. This picture therefore brings up some old memories.
The subtle use of HDR enhances the colours in a natural way. I think your last version is better than the first one. |

A great landscape, indeed. The direction of light creates good texture. I think your last version is better than the first one and I like that you have some colour in the clouds. Wish you luck with the contest! |

Well captured with good depth of field. I agree with the comments already given. |

I found the story about Shakers interesting, so I had to look it up. Not the most sustainable strategy, and may be for the best that it faded out. Thank you for telling us.
Most has already been said about the picture, so I will just say I liked the composition and the light.
If I should suggest any improvement, it would be to darken the left side slightly and the white spots on the door. |

This is an image of a peaceful beach at sunset. Reading your story, it came to me how unpredictable nature is; Devastating and fierce in one moment and beautiful and inviting in the next.
Good story telling! |

Thank you, Lance. It is very encouraging to get comments like this. I am working on a series of B&W seascape pictures that I might use in a PSA portfolio one day. And yes, I plan to matte and frame it :). |

Thank you for your comment, Ying. To a certain degree I agree with your point, but in my opinion your proposal is a bit over the edge in enhancing the main rock. I braceted the shot with +/- 2 stops, so I will try out merging the layers and make the rock stand more out.
It would be good to hear other members opinion on this. If we shall improve ourselves, we have to be challenged. |

I think you have succeeded well in converting an ordinary flower into an more or less abstract image. Nice grey tones.
I would suggest that you clone out the grass at the bottom and left side. |

Very good story telling. The composition is exelent in the way it conweys the message of a person who tired both of his work and life as such. |

A very well captured picture of a wild animal. I like the symetry and the use of grey tones in the face.
My suggestion for improvement is to separate the animal more from the background by lightening the light parts of the hairs on the sides and the horns. Luminosity mask would do a good job here. |

Nice reflections. The diagonal lines give the image energy. Cropping can be dicussed up and down, but in my opinion, you should left some more space at the top to keep the shape of the door/ window. |

An interesting composition. I like the tree in the foreground pointing into the picture and the wave captured at the right moment.
To make more drama, I would suggest to darkened the dark areas of the sea. I would also suggest that you look into luminosity mask to make this easier and better. |
