I think that the other cowboys help create this story. To me, they are more interesting than the normal rodeo background, which is usually an audience of some sort. So I would see how it looks to include some of them, and probably those that are in front of the horse and rider. Also, isn't that the shadow of the horse and rider on the ground? I guess, in other words, I'm suggesting a wider crop to include more of the atmosphere.

There is not really a strong subject here, but it works as an abstract. I like the contrast of the white snow against the bright orange. Along those line, I might try to blur the whole image and amp up the color and texture just to emphasize the abstraction.

I agree with Al about not such a tight crop so we could see more of the plane. Great job of sharpening and tightening up the lines. |

I agree with Jerry that the road completes the circle, and creates the arms that claim the forest as part of Assisi. I think it's a beautiful shot, and your processing is just right. |

Your dramatic treatment of this barn gives it a very graphic look, and I like that. I think it works well with the crop that you have chosen. But I do like the fuller view of your original too, because I like the contrast of the tall vertical barn with the very flat farm land. You could create an entirely different look with that. Nice capture!

I love the artsy look of this. I also like the sky replacement and the color that it adds. I do think that it needs a little blending though. I would create a mask, and with a soft brush, just lightly brush off some of the sky where it appears to meet the ground. And also just a quick brush up the trunk of the tree, as the top of the tree has noticeable sky color, at least on my monitor. |

Mike and Joe - I did spend some time there taking shots at different angles and even from the back. But yes, I also do have that tendency to rush - as though my subject is going to disappear somehow!! Slowing down is such good practice, but often hard to remember. |
