I think that's quite amazing that by clipping the shadow a bit, the focus shifts more to the flower! I like the treatment that you added to the image with Topaz. It's sometimes difficult to process white flowers because they lack detail, but the filter that you used has added a lot of character.

This is a gorgeous and unique bloom! Amazing that you were there at just the right time. Following up on Jerry and Joe's point, to me the top center bud could be eliminated with little loss. It is just too much out of focus. I would also try to bring out a little more detail on the white flower. The texture slider in Lightroom might work well applied as a mask. Nice catch!

I agree with Jerry that this could make a great poster for an art show or botanical fair. It is very dramatic. But to Joe's point, the red fill in the top center detracts from the overall image. It pulls the eye away from the blooms. I think that your use of the square crop is very effective in limiting the field of view, and it helps to create your good composition. |

Great blurred background Mike! I agree with you that it's kind of fun to go back and redo some images after our skills have improved. Looks to me like you could have taken a step to the left and got more of the more tightly clustered flowers. But overall very nice.

Very appropriate for today!! Nice job Marti! I'm at a loss when it comes to composites. Maybe we should make that a special theme sometime?

Yes it is an interesting take on the Fourth! I think you have the orange well toned down, and it's very crisp and clear. Great reflections as well!
