This is an excellent capture and I like how you have sharpened the planes so they are very crisp. And an uneven number always makes a stronger composition. I like the flipping of the photo, but I think I prefer a bluer sky.

It's very interesting to try and see how many partial heads and faces are in this piece of wood. The alligator to me is an elephant with partial trunk. Nice puzzle Marti!

The Topaz is a nice finish, but I think that the story of your picture is the boy enjoying a walk through the mud while momma looks on. And that story pretty much disappears with the Topaz filter. I'd try cropping it to include momma and her reaction to him. I know that leaves kind of a messy background with the vehicles, but it preserves your very cute story. |

Yes, my eye follows exactly where you are describing. The dark gondolier does not really trouble me because my eye goes right past him to the bright buildings at the end of the canal. When you cropped the bottom, you removed much of the light reflection in the water. (The white spots) And what is left does not look like a reflection but more like something on the water. I think I'd clone that out and let the eye be led by the beautiful blue path of light right down the center of the canal. Lovely shot. |

Very nice fall landscape. You were out for a drive at the right time for sure. The foliage is all solidly colored and not overly saturated, and you have a good natural composition. Well done.
