Marti, I wasn't questioning that it was really a tall ship - I just thought that it was a telltale sign of modern times. Kind of like "the hand of man" in Nature images. |

Marti's change helped to better focus on your subjects. I agree with Jerry that the pitch fork and rope need a bit more space to breathe. But it is a nice simple composition. |

I agree with all of the above. There is so much "stuff" in the background that it would require major work to rescue. But - that is a very interesting and unusual boat, and well worth trying to capture. |

I like both versions as well, although slightly prefer the black and white. I think that flipping the image, as Joe did, helps to draw your eye through the image and is very pleasing. I would suggest that you clone out the feet and sandals of the people on board. Those feet make it too evident that this is a tour boat and not an authentic tall ship. |

I have to agree Marti, that there is not a strong subject here. |

Beautiful color and pattern. I like Marti's black background a lot! I'm not crazy about snakes but he looks pretty harmless. |

Great catch Kaylyn! I do think Marti's toning and darker vignette help bring the eye in to the otter. But capturing this handheld is pretty wow! |

I think that the black and white unites all of the elements of the image. Although your original is pretty neutral, the spatula colors are distracting to me. The B&W pulls it all together. In fact, the pan looks like cast iron in your final - which adds to the appeal. And honestly, I don't even see the flowing water as necessary to your composition. Great idea well executed! |
