22 Feb 20 Comment Looks like this was a fun project Kaylyn, and I can see that you put in lots of time and effort. I don't see much texture in it because your texture layer became light and color. Interesting and creative! Feb 14th
22 Feb 20 Comment Mike this is a really nice shot of a Roadrunner. I have never seen one fluffed up like this. I especially like the backlighting which shows up more in Marti's edit. He does blend into his background too much though - which is obviously nature's disguise. But he definitely has texture!

22 Feb 20 Comment This just doesn't work for me Joe. As Al said, it looks like the center of the flower was just stuck onto the marble petals. I think this would work with a different technique. Perhaps dragging the marble layer onto the flower layer. Then adjust the blend mode and opacity so that you see the marble pattern lightly on the petals. Then a layer mask to erase the marble from everywhere else??? Feb 14th
22 Feb 20 Comment That's a beautiful still life Al. It did need straightening and Stephen's version is much better. I wish the flowers were more in focus, but they do work in the context of the image. The light coming in from the right is great and you have captured it well. Lovely! Feb 14th
22 Feb 20 Comment I really like the soft, roundness of the texture. And your final has nice tonal variation. Good eye to spot this!

22 Feb 20 Reply Thanks Stephen. I was convinced that the vertical crop just wasn't going to work well. So - thanks for encouraging me to try! Feb 14th
22 Feb 20 Comment Interesting comment Joe about the headlights. I agree with the others. The texture really works for the car but not the background. The background almost blends into the car. I would darken the background, or blur it away. Feb 14th
22 Feb 20 Reply Reconsidering my comments - this vertical looks pretty good. Feb 14th

22 Feb 20 Reply Thanks Steven. I appreciate your very nice comments. I have attached 2 alternative crops. One is a vertical and the other is the horizontal with the full sail and mast. I still personally prefer my original crop because it brought the boat closer to the viewer, and I didn't have an issue with just implying the full sail. Feb 14th
