22 Apr 18 Comment This is a very strong image and is enhanced by the conversion to black and white. As you probably know, Nik's ColorEfex has a preset to Darken/Lighten Center which would do what Joe has suggested and would highlight your subject and tone down the background. I like the angle at which you shot this. Apr 13th
22 Apr 18 Comment I agree with the others. This would have been more effective had the young man on the left had his entire head in the image, and if the older man had been in focus as well. I like your idea, the concept of this picture, and your originality. I can see how the young man with the green and pink hair would have drawn your attention. But without the title, I probably wouldn't have known what your intent was. Apr 13th
22 Apr 18 Comment Another nice nature image Mike. Your Lightroom adjustments worked very well to enhance the details of these beautiful birds. A slightly tighter crop would be helpful - there's a bit too much sky. But this was very well done and your settings seem to have been right on. Apr 13th

22 Apr 18 Comment Great job on the eyes! That is one of the requirements of a good bird image (according to all that I read anyway!). Also great job sharpening. The crest didn't really trouble me, but I think I would have backed the cropping off a bit to get the entire crest into the image. Apr 13th
22 Apr 18 Reply Yes Mike and Joe - I have recropped the image per your suggestions - although I did not flip it - and removed the purple flowers. It definitely improved the image, so thanks for the suggestions. About the saturation and contrast - it's always a balancing act when dealing with red, and I didn't want to lose the texture of the poppies so I think sacrificed some of the color. Apr 13th
22 Apr 18 Comment Yes, this is beautiful Marti. I agree with the others about the color, composition, and sharpness. I do see the slight blue halo and it seemed to be there in the original - perhaps just reflection. Apr 13th
