I like it very much John. You were in the right place at the right time! I appreciate Joe's version with the building removed, but I would not have done that. I think the building adds a sense of place (the beach I think), and grounds the image so that both men are not floating in air. |

I think you were very successful in creating the industrial and gritty feel that you were after. Lots of texture and geometry in this image, and the B&W is perfect for that. I really have no suggestions for improvement - other than the fact that it makes me slightly dizzy! Very good. |

Very nice with the beautiful backlighting and almost monochrome coloring. Your aperture setting must have been just right for the distance you were shooting from. The upper background could be darkened/blurred a little more to keep the eye focused on the goats. Pretty image. |

This scene in arranged in horizontal panels - the water, the vegetation, the mountains, the sky, all with their own distinct textures and colors. Makes a great composition I think. I love the reflections. This is too dark on my monitor also, and my monitor is usually overly bright. |

Very creative Joe, and much more interesting than the original. However, it was a little startling to me to see a triangular pier - how do you get up there! (Just kidding.)
You are a good motivator in demonstrating how we can be more creative in finishing our images. |

Very, very nice Vicki. I think your color version has much more of the "wow!" factor, and the colors lead your eye to the different areas of the image such as the sky and grass. I like the way that Joe has been able to straighten out the bow of the foreground. However, I think that the bowing in some way helps to guide your eye to the center of the image, and I might not necessarily correct it. |

Yes I can see that a setting sun or rising moon would anchor the left side nicely. I was trying to create the vision of a 17th century ship sailing off into the unknown - thus the space on the left - and no modern day people. To me the image is really about the geometry of the ship - all the lines, angles, triangles presented by the rigging and prow. |
