5 Dec 17 Comment Phil, I have to agree with Oliver but this was an amazing shot. This was an amazing shot. Some of our club members have made some trips to isolated parts of the US to get some outstanding Milky Way images; I do hope to make it on one of these field trips one day. Dec 16th
5 Dec 17 Comment David, I do like what you did; however, I thought the BG was a little too strong and the worker's face needed to be lighten a bit. I did try to achieve that goal but I don't know if I really made any improvements. I did want to bring out more texture in the laundry but I think I over did it. Dec 16th
5 Dec 17 Reply Our club hosted the judging of round two for PSA's print competition; we had three judges from our club who are very accomplished photographers. This was a fascinating process with some extraordinary photographs (of course not all were extraordinary). Yes, there was some bias; however, for significant differences between judges' scores the judges discussed what they were seeing. In the end agreements were made and an equitable score was given. The sad part of this story is the photographers will never receive any feedback on their image other than a numerical score and possible a ribbon. Dec 16th
5 Dec 17 Reply Barbara and Oliver, you are both correct; the photo was a little tilted. I rotated it a couple of degrees CCW. I did not notice this until Barbara had it posted.
The "distraction removal" action was part of a package I downloaded some months ago. I haven't dissected it to look at each step, but I believe the original function was for clearing up blemishes and skin imperfections in portrait work. Anyway, I find that it does some interesting things on images that aren't portraits.

5 Dec 17 Comment Great photo Oliver! I love the leading lines guiding us to the beginning of a journey. Excellent post processing too. Dec 5th
5 Dec 17 Comment Excellent photo Barbara. It is very sharp revealing the texture of his skin and beard. Nicely framed Dec 5th
