Thanks David, I do like what you did what you did to the B/G; I just learned about color select and focus select in PS to create a layer mask. It does a great job so I will start using it more frequently (if I can remember to do it). |

Awesome photo of a Spoonbill, I was just down at Port Aransas, Texas last week shooting bird pictures including some Spoonbills but nothing this great. I like the framing too. |

I also prefer David's crop, you have the bird at the shoreline as a starting point; the shoreline takes your down to the town and the pier. Your eye goes from the pier to the layer of clouds and back to the bird in a continuous loop. I do like your second version too. |

You have certainly mastered the NIK software; excellent crop of the original image. The lighting effect that you created on your subject is masterful. Leaving the windows in as part of the image creates another dimension to the image. |

This really challenges the camera’s dynamic range. I know these moments happen quickly leaving little time to think but if your camera had a flash set to 1/3 power do you think that would have still created the harsh flash shadows? Barbara, I think I do prefer your crop vice David’s crop. If you use Lightroom and Photoshop together with a raw file you may have been able to get a little more detail in the burned out areas as well gaining more detail in the dog. I’ve seen where someone in our club used LR first to adjust the exposure, reduce the highlights, and increase the shadows. Then using PS and Viveza recover a little more detail than with PS/Viveza alone. The subject is adorable. |
