Some type of mushroom - don't know the specific type but I wouldn't eat it. |

Sure, submit it and see what happens. I might just use a brush with reduced exposure to darken some of the light areas on the perimeter or use a vignette. |

Barbara,
This is a good subject to experiment with using off camera strobes or flash. The side lighting produces excellent shadows which gives the needed depth to a still life. The colors are rendered well and the exposure is right on. Are you going to eat all those apples? |

Rita,
I too like the colors and the change in color palate from top to bottom. These photo camera movement pics are tricky - too much movement and it is impossible to tell what the subject was; too little and it just looks like a blurry image. I think you got it right. |

Blair,
It is a lovely flower. I like the way the petals curve over the center. Using the flash to make the background dark is a good technique but I think the flower has a bit too much exposure because some of the highlights are blown out.

The real Damon revealed. I like the camera in the foreground. It looks like it is levitating. Do you have super powers. I agree with Blair that the umbrella in the upper foreground is not needed. |

Blair,
Your suggestion is appreciated. It sounds like you were (are?) a highly motivating English teacher. |

Jacob,
I think you did a good job in getting this bee in flight in reasonably good focus - it is not easy to catch them in flight. I think including the entire flower is fine since that's an important part of this story. I might place a soft vignette around the perimeter. |

Cindy,
My eye movers around and around this image with each bird telling a bit different story. It looks like the ones on top are waiting their turn to get to the remaining suet. Catching one with wings extended makes this a much more interesting image. |

Pierre,
I never think that moose are very photogenic but I like this moose image with the fog and water. The bw is a good choice for this image. I think the placement of the moose in the frame is fine. The water draining off the antlers is a nice touch. |

Mervyn,
I like that stepping through the water disturbs the water and creates some visual interest. As you know, the backside is usually not the most appealing but you have to take what is offered when it comes to wildlife photos. Th diagonal line of elephants leads the eye from left to right and the upper and lower banks provide a frame. That's not an image that I will ever see in North America. |

Yes, with the inclusion of the feeder and the great change in luminosity, this was an exercise in trying to improve a mediocre bird image. |
