Yes, still life is not my usual thing. Probably won't be seeing many more. Just a whim. |

I cropped and put a radial filter on the area around the horizon with a bit of brightness and color. |

Debbie,
I like the horizontal lines and vertical flowing water. The contrast provides visual interest and the color makes it more unique than the typical water fall scenic. You turned this into a lovely abstract image. |

Rita,
This is a nice landscape "big sky" image. I like the way the plateau in the background and the pink clouds bring the eye to the center of the image. The foreground is kind of blah but this image is mostly about the sky. I might crop from the bottom to remove some of the foreground so it starts at the vegetation. |

John,
I like the Zane Gray theme too and the way the background leads the eyes to the center with the diagonals. And I agree with Damon that the lighting is a bit flat. Maybe some selective use of small flashlights might add some lighting interest. |

Anne,
I too like the color and texture. I also like the contrast and the curved lines. There are lots of possible framing and perspectives you could have taken with this subject. See attached for one other possible one. Mostly, I got rid of some of the upper background, which is a bit distracting to me. |

This is a difficult image for me to evaluate, which probably just means that it is different from the usual stuff I see. So definitely points for creativity. I like the choice of shoes, if shoes had to be the theme. The snow provides a bit of incongruity and unexpected context. I don't like the big sky -- I don't think all that sky adds much to the impact or story and I am not sure the grass helps much either. |

Patrick,
Birds in flight are one of the most challenging images to capture well. I love that the image of this raptor is so clear and sharp, especially considering the slow shutter speed. You caught the bird when it was gliding and relatively motionless. If the wings were flapping, your would need a shutter speed of 1/1000 - 1/2000, or even more. Possible improvements in post:
There is a lot of empty space in this image. I know you have cropped in quite a bit but I would crop in even more to reduce the empty space largely below the bird and a bit to the right. It is good that the background is muted and soft but I think it is a bit too bright. Lastly, I would do some selective lightening and increase clarity to the bird and the eye. See attached example. |

Cindy,
Regarding noise, my A7RIV seems to be good at ISO 800 and below. After that, there will be noise as the ISO increases and it will be even worse in images that are dark, like night skies. Full frame cameras are generally better than those with smaller sensors and even cameras by the same manufacturer with similar sensors may be a bit different (like your A7III vs A7RIII). For landscapes, I almost always use a tripod so I can decrease the shutter speed and therefore reduce the ISO (100 is my preference, if possible). I usually don't allow the camera to select the ISO but sometimes I do when shooting sports or moving birds. And the denoise software works much better these days than a few years ago. |

Yes, I tried Topaz Sharpen in the "too soft" auto setting and it did provide a bit of improvement. |

Ken,
Definitely a perspective that is not usually seen. I don't think that all the water under the ray adds much and having the fish to the left truncated is a bit distracting to me. So I would crop in, per attached. |

Jacob,
Yes, the moth is almost lost in all the bright yellow and green. Maybe the moth could be brightened a bit. |

Pierre,
Great action shot. I don't know if it all the flying water or the fast action but the heads of the birds appear a bit soft to me. |

Mervyn,
Clear and sharp, as always. I like that your caught it in mid-step. The eye is really a stand out in this otherwise rather peculiar bird. Vultures are kind of ugly on the ground but in the air they are magnificent. |

Cindy,
Branches always seem to get in the way of good bird images when the birds have landed in a tree. The real story in this image, I think, is the entwinement of the two Herons. It would be great if you had enough extra pixels to zoom in more on that part of the image but I don't think you do since it starts to get soft when zoomed in more, see attached. |
