69 May 20 Comment Brenda,

You have to purchase a filter specifically for taking photos of the sun. They can be relatively cheap if you get one with a plastic filter and cardboard body which slides over your lens. No other special eye protection is needed that I know about. After that it is manual exposure and adjusting as needed. If you are taking pictures of an solar eclipse like this, you have to regularly adjust the exposure since the amount of light is changing. And you have to adjust where the lens is pointed because the earth is rotating. There isn't much post processing to do.There is lots of info on the WWW about taking pics during a solar eclipse -- the most difficult part is getting yourself to a spot where you can see a total eclipse. I had to drive a 600 miles but other people will go thousands of miles to get these pics. The next total one in the U.S. will be in April of 2024. Start planning at least a year ahead if you will need lodging reservations.

69 May 20 Reply Thanks Candy. I agree; there are some people out there with not much caution or good sense. May 6th

69 May 20 Comment Jacob,

Lovely pink flowers. You got the main subject (the cluster in the foreground) clearly in focus. I agree that cropping in per Pierre's example would improve the image a bit and I would probably add a bit of vignette too.

69 May 20 Comment Candy,
It is great to make a good image on a overcast and wet day. I think you caught the timing on the water just about right -- just blurry enough but still recognizably flowing water.

69 May 20 Comment Pierre,

Lovely light and reflections; I agree that cropping in might be better since the background doesn't add much to this image.

69 May 20 Comment Mervyn,

A dramatic sky and nice side lighting for the image of those four majestic animals.

69 May 20 Comment Brenda,
I think including the whole tree works well in this shot. Sunsets are a challenge with the great dynamic range but you got both the foreground and background exposed well.

69 May 20 Reply Thanks Geoffrey. I think you are doing much better in Oz than we are here in the States. May 3rd
