Jacob,
There are many camera options out there and the technology and models keep changing. If you need help thinking that through, I can help. The main thing is to get out there and keep taking pictures. A six-year old camera will work just fine. My main camera is about three years old and I don't plan on replacing it anytime soon. |

Nice, I have the same drone but haven't been flying it much. |

Geoffrey,
As you know, there are no hard and fast rules of composition. I think the mid-image horizon works well with this image because of the mirror images of sky and reflections.
What type of drone do you have? Can you fly it in parks in Oz? We can't here in the U.S. |

I took a similar photo when I was out there a couple of years ago. Very visually interesting patterns and rock layers. I can't quite figure out the scale -- is the rock formation relatively close or are you looking down into a canyon? |

Good eye with the crop -- it is a lovely composition Candy. The foreground image (subject) looks a tiny bit dark to me but adding brightness would have to be done carefully to not blow out the whites. |

I agree with Geoffrey -- cropping from the left might help a bit to focus on the main subject. And adding a bit of vignette too. |

Darn birds don't seem to pose very well for photographers seeking the best composition. I don't think there is much you can do in post to "improve" this image. |

Hi Jacob,
There are some very good photographers in this group, so I am sure you'll get lots of good suggestions. Do you have another camera besides the IPhone? |

In landscape mode, the camera selects the settings. That's definitely not the aperture that I would typically select for a scene like this. It is interesting that everything appears to be in clear focus, even the relatively close plant in the foreground. |
