Thanks Pierre,
It was fairly early in the morning and fortunately, there was little wind. As you know, the wind is the bane of focus stacking. |

Thanks, Mervyn. I too think having four works here because of the diagonal alignment and different orientation of one flower. |

Geoffrey,
Get some great pics on your next outback adventure. What fun it must have been to be in the water with these playful seals (and no sharks). |

Brenda,
Shooting from an unstable small boat is always a challenge and using the higher ISO and shutter speed certainly was a good choice. I like the reflection and the implied movement of the bird withdrawing from the water. The background is a bit busy. |

Donna,
Excellent composition of these two Herons. The foliage on the right nicely frames both. The subjects are very sharp and clear. I like the contrast in colors between the two and the extended wings of both birds. |

Pierre,
I like the strong side lighting which highlights the color in the wings of the butterfly. I agree that it would be challenging to handhold such a long lens and get everything perfectly sharp but I am sure the higher ISO and shutter speed helps with that. |

Mervyn,
A lovely well-focused image of this hungry caterpillar. I like seeing both the eaten and to be eaten leaves. |

Brenda,
My sister teaches at Purdue and lives in West Lafayette. Thanks for identifying the flower and your comments. I often focus stack when shooting flowers. Of course, the camera must be on a tripod. I typically use a macro lens but that is not required. I take several images focusing on various parts of the flower(s), usually going from near to far away. Then I use PS to align and blend (stack) the images. Usually, there is a small bit of cropping required if the images don't align perfectly. It is best to pick a day when it is not windy since any movement in the subject makes photo stacking difficult. |
