Rob,
You certainly live in a beautiful country. We hope to have a return visit without the earthquake next time. We were in Christchurch on Feb. 21-22, 2011.
This is a nice composition with the birds in different flight attitudes and fore and aft spacing. The grass provides a sense of depth and texture. The sky is blah but does provide a pleasing blue contrast to the grass. |

Yes, nice lighting with the shadows in the sand and good contrast on the horse itself. The ocean background is dramatic. I think you have to be a horse person to appreciate pictures of horses strolling unless something really interesting is happening. The seaside setting is certainly different from the usual horses in a pasture pics. |

Nice composition with foreground, midground, and background elements. As you noted, if you were there when the sun was lower in the sky, it would have been an even better picture but that doesn't always work out when traveling. Since the sky adds so little, I might try an even tighter crop to get just a canyon background. |

Candy,
Nice capture of this big bird in flight -- dramatic shape to curved wings. Good contrast between the light and dark feathers and good placement on the canvas. The large twig helps tell a story. |

Pierre,
Nice capture; has a Japanese print quality to it with the diffused light and contrast between the bird and the background. |

Thanks Brenda for your comments. I wish the sky would have had a few clouds to add some interest. Otherwise, I agree a bit darker would be better. |

Thanks for the comments Pierre. I do plan to go back and take some more pics but probably not in the summer --too hot and too many people. |
