Congratulations. Was the fact that you see the face good or bad? |

Thanks. I'm surprised that you kept 700 and only rejected 10%, but I'm about the same. I need to be more ruthless in deleting images. I've found I spend little time going back to process those images that I kept but did nothing with after the first pass. At some point I'm going to have to go back through my terabytes of images and use the perspective of time to delete those that have no merit and free up disk space. Keep on shooting. |

I'm not a big fan of overlays or backgrounds that weren't part of the original scene, but in this case I think it adds to the mood of the scene. I'm amazed that you able to get such a good exposure at 1/800 sec and ISO 100. I would have expected the raw image to be underexposed enough to make it hard to bring out details in the fur without introducing a lot of noise. I guess there may have been enough reflected light from snow cover to allow the higher shutter speed. You did a nice job in both capturing and post processing the image. |

Great shot. Sharp action shots of birds are tough with a hand held long lens. I was wondering how many images you discarded from your afternoon of shooting. This one is definitely a keeper. |

You've done a nice job of capturing the shapes, textures and colors of the harsh landscape in Death Valley under what I assume are mid-day lighting conditions. The two outcroppings are definitely the focal point for me. From there my eyes moved along the ridge lines to other parts the image. Good job in capturing and processing this scene. |

I agree with Ruth and Marla. It is a wonderful image of a person engaged in daily activities. Her eyes stand out to me as a focal point. |

Thank you all for the comments. I agree the bottom needed to be cropped out. I think it's a much stronger image with just the mountain silhouette at the bottom. Marla, I also like the edits you made to bring out the cooler colors. I remember to try some of these on my next attempt. |

The partial picture of the flower head does focus your attention on the petals and colors rather than the flower. You have achieved your goal with this image. I haven't done much macro-photography, but have read a few articles and know a few people that have. Have you ever tried focus stacking software to increase the depth of field in the image? One of these days, I'll give it a try. Some of the images I've seen are awesome with the level of detail throughout the image. |
