Thanks guys. I was thinking the same about the cityscapes this month!!
This image was the first time I did a photo of city buildings in the fog. So I wanting your opinion on where to crop. I like the triangular top to the building on the left but think Tom is right about the cropping it out because the brightness and colors are on the right. |

Wonderful image. The leading lines are perfect. Placing the buildings left of center is very good. Nothing for me to add. |

I love this image and agree with the crop. The image is so sharp. How did you do this on a boat? Did Topaz improve the sharpness? I just purchased Topaz on CyperMonday and yet to use it. I like the golden colors reflecting off the buildings. If i have any suggestion it would be that the pink sky competes with the new world trade center and would try reducing either the luminance or saturation. Overall, a great image. |

Yes, very humorous. I personally like the distortion a wide angle and fish eye does on close angle. I agree doing a circular cropping to remove the sky on the top and left would be great and then enhance the exposure of the dog. The background at the bottom and perfect. The yellow line just brings my eye around and around. Fun image!! |

You did good by shooting the torso and entire crown with minimal movement. Lighting is good. I agree that cropping the right of the image would be a stronger image. |

Welcome Graham! I am these least knowledgable and prior to you, the newest member to the group. Your image is beautiful. It is sharp and, for my taste, you selected the perfect shutter speed and aperture to smooth out the waves.
I feel there are 2 items in this image competing with the pilings - the beach on the left and the ocean on the right. For my taste, cropping the left of the image is the stronger crop only because the taller pilings on the left are allowing the eye to be lead from the taller to shorter pilings, like an arrow. Trying to go right to left through the image is not comfortable.

I also find the image very nice. Great deception to get the bison coming toward you while you are safe behind a fence. I have personal issues knowing how much to crop my own image but I do feel that cropping tighter on the bison would make this a stronger image. I find the building on the left background more distracting than the people in the background. Consider cropping our the building and placing the bison in the foreground more on the left third? Seeing dark eyes on a dark animal is tough and lightening, as Tom suggests, would be worth trying. |
