Cropping a bit from the bottom may be advisable. It was amazing how black the lower clouds were. |

Those dark orange clouds were really that color. I've never seen clouds that color before. |

The cloud formation didn't move quickly. You would expect such a big storm system to skittle across the sky. This one stayed in place long enough to take many photographs. |

Yeah, kangaroo works too. our Camera Club had a challenge for 'weather'. I entered this and couldn't help extending the 'ears' and 'nose' a little. |

Thank you, Ally. The formation was huge and dense. It didn't move much. |

That little road leads the viewer's eye right to the brown cabin. The sprinkling of trees along the way add a very nice touch. But those clouds are amazing. It is hard to tell clouds from snow-topped mountains. I hope you took some of the snow from the same vantage point. |

As dramatic as that sky is, it is the car that sets this image apart. It gives scale to those roiling clouds. The viewer can immediately sense the danger that may lie ahead for the travelers. Very well done. I thought Carole's version would be too dark. But on enlarging it, it is very nice. |

The exposure is very good in the sky, the dark areas and the house lights and stars. You are very lucky to live where you can see this phenomenon. I would be tempted to saturate the colors a bit. Would that be a misrepresentation of the sky? Your technique is pretty good now, but practice makes everything better. |

What a shot! We tried to photograph the eclipse some years ago with super dense filters, tripods, and anything else the pundits recommended. Our pictures were okay - just record shots, This looks like something NOAA or NASA might have taken. |

Oaky Carole. You didn't pick the spot or time of day (or time of year even). But you did take a magnificent image. The 'mittens' are in the iconic position. The colors are amazing. That little black cloud skimming the horizon is a definite plus. You go a unique image of something that has been photographed hundreds of times. Well done. Just for fun I tried Lisa's cropping suggestions. I added a white border to make the resulting edges easier to see. |
