This is fascinating. It almost looks as if the people are in the tank with the fish. This was a real exposure challenge. You were right to expose for the tank; the people are more affective as silhouettes. And the grouping couldn't have been better if it was posed. Some of the fish following the whale are looking for food morsels. Some just like to hang out with the big guys in order to intimidate other big guys who might eat them. |

Speaking of backgrounds: I needed to replace a background, but isolating the image would be very tedious. Then a light bulb went off. I loaded some textures into PS Sky Replacement (in a new folder called Backgrounds). It worked beautifully. |

I did use auto exposure. The available light in each scene varied according to the number of lights on the exhibits. Auto exposure and auto focus seemed to handle the problem. I really never thought I would use any of these images, so I wasn't very fussy. |

There was a lot of noise in the background. I used Denoise and also painted black in the background. |

This is a great shot. Your focus, exposure, and composition is very good. Unfortunately, the background is very busy and the light on the leopard is rather flat. I selected the leopard and its branches to another layer. Then used levels to dramatize the lighting on the leopard. For the background I used levels to darken the tree branches and added a slight gaussian blur. I might have gone a bit overboard. |

You're right - baby elephants are adorable! This image looks pretty technically strong to me. We can see every little bit of fur, their eyes are sharp. the action (walking) adds great interest. They stand out quite well from the background. This is a really excellent shot. |

You caught the group quite well; moving purposely, arranged nicely, the little ones at the center. What a thrill this experience must have been! The flat lighting is the only detraction, and that can be helped. I used levels to bring the white slider into the right side of the 'mountain' and the black slider into the left side of the 'mountain. Then added a neutral gradient to tone down the grass in the foreground. I wanted to make the elephants more brown and less grey, but maybe that's not the way they looked. |

One must make do with the available angels in a zoo. You really wouldn't want to be in the pen with this lady. She really does look like she is posing for a runway shot. You did a good job bringing out the foreground while keeping the background subdues. This would probably be a good shot for the zoo's website. |

Thank you all for your comments. I, too, feel the treatment is too harsh for this little sweetie. It was really an experiment. The brown tone to the B&W is from the Topaz preset I used. I had been working on this and had applied a very gentle vignette. And then Photo Shop stopped working and shut down. I had made no notes and couldn't seem to find that preset again. This version is close, but, as they say, no cigar. This image is a lesson to always backup your work in progress and to make good notes. |

This is an excellent composite. Overlapping the little girl with the neck of the violin is a small detail that makes this look like just one image. Very well done. The dreamy quality you added is just the right touch for these two little girls. The swirl of the skirt and the expressions on their faces echo that dreamy mood. |

This is very pretty. The soft look is perfect for this little doll. Incidentally, she was posed in a light box. Those lines are the seams where walls come together. I should Have noticed them. This softer version would look very nice on a little girl's bedroom wall. |

Both images are very well done. For me, the B&W has more of an 'abandoned' feeling to it. Kudos to you for seeing something most people would ignore. Wow. You and the others have really inspired me to try new things. Happy New Year to all! |

Just love the expressions and body language! You must have had a very merry Christmas! AI Gigpixel does a great job enlarging photographs. It even does some denoising. Your crop is excellent, removing some very distracting elements and focusing on that great group of people. I looked for sepia filters in PS and NIK, but found nothing nearly as good as what you have done. |

The structure of the lily is very interesting, Color would probably distract the viewer's attention. The treatment of the background is well done; it adds interest but not competition. This image reminds me of those lovely z-ray images of flowers. I would like to see a broader tonal range in the blossom itself. I separated the blossom to its own layer. Then used curves to bring out the detail in the petals. |

I love the vivid colors of original 2. I probably would have stopped there. So glad you went ahead. The finished image has a very ethereal look to it. It does, indeed, look like a fairy house seen out of the corner of one's eye. Very nice. |

Thank you for that detailed description of your post-processing. This is like taking lessons. You turned a charming snapshot of the backyard squirrel into something magical. Perhaps a winter scene from "Narnia". |
