My go-to lens is an 18-300 mm Tamron lens. I have a 100mm macro and a wide angle, but am too lazy to switch lenses. These particular hostas have large purple blossoms that the hummingbirds love. |

Yeah, I debated about that spot; it would be easy to get rid of. Looking at it now, I should also tone fown that bright edge in the upper left. |

You can experiment with cropping top and bottom by simply moving the image up and down. Slide it down to keep the trees and the house is in the lower left. Slide up and the house is in the upper right. I like both versions. I thought about increasing contrast and saturation; but the beauty of the Palouse is the gentleness. |

First of all, it is so cool that you can actually see these turtle tracks live! Us landlubbers never get to see this. I agree with Ally about cropping out the sky. The brightness really does distract, and the viewer knows this is a beach. Then just for fun I rotated the image and cropped in really tight to get the tracks ona diagonal. Not neceswsarily better, just a different version. |

This looks like exquisite tile work. I agree with increasing the saturation and contrast. This fits the definition of patterns perfectly. |

Yes, I see what you mean about the triangular composition. As is, the image is almost a square. A linen-like texture might be better. Perhaps the textures should be more noticeable. |

Thank you Angela. I didn't really notice how muted that scissor blade was until trying to remove the texture from it. Perhaps tilting the scissors to cast a bit of a shadow on that blade would help. |

Yes, maybe the bright colors and strong contrast does not convey the peacefulness you were wlooking for, but moods change. And the viewer may find this to be exciting and uplifting. I agree with you that the long vertical is good. Concentrating on the three lower flowers is a completely different image. I like this very much. |

Did you light paint the front of the church? That may be why the green grass is so bright. This is an excellent shot - especially for your first try. Your version with the keystoning makes me feel as though looking at the sky, the way it would feel in person. Witta's crop is very pleasing too, moving the attention to just the subjects, church and Milky Way. |

I, too, like minimalist images of one trees. But I would like to see this tree in good focus out to the tips of the branches. The soft surroundings are very nice. The gradient filter on the sky ends a bit abruptly. Perhaps a gentler transition would work. |

I really don't do well with textures so I really like what you have done here. Hazel Meredith would be proud of you. Like the others, I feel the text needs work. The color and placement are good. Perhaps a more old-fashioned font. Carol pointed out that the guage is on 0. Perhaps the words could convey the "no pressure" idea. |

You have raised a standard flower image to a work of art. The gentle curves and diagonal placement give a pleasing composition. The B&W version is much stronger than the original color version. The slight rim light accents the stem without making it too obvious. The varied blackish tones of the background are much more interesting than just plain black. Welcome to our grouip, Carol. It looks like I will be learning a lot from you. |
