Thank you all for your comments. I really wish I could have found the image with the actual rear view mirror, because this does not really fit the assignment. But the balloons were a great experience. We were able to photograph the whole process, from inflating the balloons to night shots with the balloons lit from the inside. Merry Everything and Happy Always to all of you in Group 12. |

This is beautiful. It shows that the whole sky is dramatic at sunrise, no just the east. No comments, just praise. |

I like both versions. But the original seems to fit the subject better. The cropped image is more like a reflection in the window rather than the mirror. I realize that my image is not a reflection in the mirror, so I have no right to critisize that. The diagonal lines of the car do indeed lead to the car following you. This is good; this was a difficult challenge. |

Wow! This is a great interpretation of the subject. The double reflection, the clear lines, the great colors all work together. The leaf was the first thing to catch my eye. Well done all around. |

Thank you all for your comments. I waqnted an old, dreamy look, thus was afraid of bringing out detail in the side of the barn. But you are all right in saying that the detail needs to be there. As to the yellow canola blossoms, they were so overwhelming that I wanted to concentrate on the old barn. We visited several fields that day. There are lots of pretty yellow flowers in other shots. I keep working on them. |

Tree branches against the sky are always beautiful. Could you saturate the sky colors more? Probably. With a separate layer you can experiment all the way to 'garish'. Topaz smudge is a tool I have yet to master; overdo it every time. Nice Job. |

A lovely abstract. The background of the original is mostly blue sea. The use of sky replacement here is not intuitive. Kudos to you for seeing the possibilities. Well done. |

Your final version has the look of the old masters' paintings. If you study these paintings, there is a lot of almost black in the background. But careful study shows much detail. So brightening the dark areas around the corn cobs is a good idea. It is amazing that you were able to pull this look from the original. Very well done. |

A little bit of dodging to give highlights to the hair does indeed help separate dark hair from background. That's all I would have done to this. Perhaps your daughter won't be so camera-shy after seeing this beautiful portrait. |

The original has such a large empty space in the vase under the flower stems. You have solved this problem quite creatively. The cut off bottom of the vase didn't bother me ubtil I saw the revised version. That makes the image perfect. Would this fit the "altered reality" criteria of the contest? Absolutely. I can see this arrangement as a centerpiece for one of Ray Bradbury's Martian families. |
