We had many images with the brilliant colors associated with slot canyons, but the subtle colors here appealed to me. Shooting at f/4 doesn't give mish depth of field. Perhaps a change of viewpoint would have put more of the area on the same plane. |

According to Wikipedia, the canyon is 120 feet deep. The path rises slightly, so the depth varies. I didn't use a wide angle lens, just a zoom. It is rather dusty inside, and changing lenses seemed unwise. |

We just had an entire session on waterfalls at the NECCC Conference. This would have been a fine example. I would like to see more detail in the rocks. Increasing clarity might do it, but be careful of the effect on the water. Perhaps NIK Viveza would do the job without hurting the water. I tried precision contrast and precision detail in Topaz Studio, masking out the soft water. Hmm, doesn't seem to show any more detail than Kerstin's. Oh well; shouldn't overdo editing anyway. |

Well, kudos to you, Kerstin. Still lifes are marvelous because weather, time of day, or season of the year don't matter. This is perfect. |

I find that the diagonal line of the rocks lead downward to the flat stone in the lower right. The ground was probably flat, but it looks like it is sloping downward towards that lower right corner. That makes the walls and potted plants the starting points. Kerstin's adjustments are very good. But it's amazing that you sent this picture on your cell phone from France! Nice job. |

Could you open up the shadows just a bit? Sorry Carole, but your crop chops off the tree trunks. I like the original crop with enough height to show that the trunks are trees, not poles. Kerstin's double tree is pretty cool. |

Okay, I agree with cropping from the top. Possibly increase the clarity and/or contrast a little. Banks of rivers and streams are fascinating, full of photo opportunities. |

I like the original crop as well as Gavin's crop. Exposure and focus are perfect. Isn't it delightful when we take one image and discover another when we look at the result? Nicely done - and perfectly titled. |
