Hi Stephen. I see what you mean. I tried edge exposure in Topaz. That resulted in shaggy lines that were not quite what was needed. I tried drawing over the existing lines in Photo Shop and that was downright bad. We will be back there in July. I can take a picture with the lines as subject instead of those cylinders. Meanwhile, the idea can simmer on a back burner. |

Gavin, please read my post about Topaz Studio on the Photography Discussion page. This page is a good place for us to talk about any photography subject, not just the assignment for the month. |

Your composition, exposure, and focus are spot on. The large yard, diagonals of the wall and sidewalk invite us to walk through the gate and say, "Hello." |

Kerstin, I really wouldn't change this. One imagines a large, beautiful, clean pool with lots of room to play. However, Gavin's crop is very good. It makes an entirely different image than the entire shot. His is more a picture of the child, and has a very different mood. Everything works together in both versions. The fact that we can't see the child's face allows this to be any child and, therefore, universal. |

Ditto to what the others said. The geodesic dome by itself is really good. Seeing and including the reflections of the trees shows a good eye. Waiting for people to give scale makes if perfect. I try to keep people out of my pictures, but you have changed my mind. |

Car details make great subjects, almost abstracts. You did a great job of avoiding hot spots and distracting reflections in that shiny car. I like Carole's first crop because I am more into design than cars. The design qualities in this shot are dynamic. In this headlight there are: propellors of a small plane, a stylized Earth (think "Blue Marble"), diagonal lines, primary colors, and more. That said, I have never taken a detail shot of a car that is nearly as good as this. |

Nice composition, exposure. The reflection raises it above the norm. Your selective focus was well selected - I might have wanted all three kisses to be sharp, but your interpretation is probably better. By using objects and backgrounds at hand, you prove that we do not need exotic subjects and/or locations to make interesting photographs. "And then I ate them." made me laugh out loud! |
